I received an extensively used SB-700 for the price of new!There were greasy finger prints and worn marks all over the body - especially the metal mounting foot. Compared to my speed light, the one I received was likely used >500 times!Regardless of the price (for new) that I paid, there is no way for me to predict how long the used item I received could last. I returned the bad worn SB-700 I received.I was very disappointed.PLEASE, let my voice be heard.

Very nice speed light light. Fits my Nikon D7000 perfectly. Used it for the first time with excellent results. Settings on the back are easy to use and display looks okay. Haven't had a chance to use all the setting most likely won't need most of them. Like the switch for standard, center and wide flash. Had a Chinese brand after my Nikon flash of 20 years plus finally died, the Chinese lasted less than a year and was garbage. Get the Nikon, good price at Amazon $70 cheaper than in a store.

Suggest to buy because the price CAN$300 --- only US$ 230. On amazon.com it's US$325. You won't get such price for brand new with Nikon Canada Inc. one year warranty. I would by 3 or 4 if I like the flash shooting. Check what's the price of those so called "Nikon compatible" flashes made from somewhere, by 'reverse engineering' , incomplete function and low quality, and where is the warranty ?

Only little issue is for this SB-700, it's hot base is not very tight to mount on camera then it's locked, this is kind of design "flaw", since it changed the hot base structure other then SB-600 and SB-800's. But it's still works good. It's not affect any other functions.

You won't regret to have this one, even more.

Nikon SB-700 is a very good Flash I use it on my Nikon D610 camera. I also have a lot older Nikon Speedlight Flash that I still use on my other Nikon camera that is a 35mm film camera. The SB-700 AF Speedlight hands down a lot better flash.
It can be used as a slave or master , can communicate with other flash. It comes with 3 different filters so don't buy any extra. I like the new design of ON/OFF power switch, better then the older push bottoms. Can be used in a few different ways and settings, but I use it mostly in iTTL mode.

I have a Nikon D80, an older camera, and read that it was compatable with this flash. I also read a number of the reviews, which were overwhelmingly positive. I have only had it for about a month. Already, I have used this flash at the airport for a surprise reunion, and at a wedding. It yielded excellent results - far better than I would have seen with just the built-in camera flash. I will never shoot indoor (and even some outdoor) photography again without this flash. It is also good to photograph my pets with because the included diffusers soften the look.
Just a side note, I tend to be very picky with manufactured products, but I could tell that this was lovingly manufactured and packaged with care. It comes with a nice black padded zip-up case too.
I love this flash so much!
