The photo in the listing showed the item with USB type C leading to me paying over $10 more for USB C but the actual item has micro b, the image needs to be updated with the correct product, not a better version. It also uses a standard USB type B port for data and the Micro B port for power when the single port is suppose to deliver both data and power. I understand they might have done it this way in case you're using coaxal or toslink for audio input wanting to power it off an adapter but that's where having a single USB C port would have helped. I do intend on adding a couple budge wires so I can use only the standard type B port for both data and power.Other than that one issue, everything else works real well with amazing sound quality, far better than the onboard audio with front headphone output only and no line out my Lenovo thinkcentre has. Being able to adjust bass and treble on the dac it's self and not through software works wonders for preserving sound quality and it doesn't get staticy at all when the volume bass and treble is high.The RCA line outputs on the back of the unit work very well with my sony professional walkman allowing me to record music to cassette flawlessly and use powered speakers which audio to turns off when headphones are plugged into the front.The inside of the unit also looked of adequate quality when I took it apart and seeing the board actually takes up all the space and doesn't use long potentiometers with counter weights to feel more premium like some other units use.I did not try the toslink or coaxial inputs because I don't have anything that can utilise those but I would be confident those would work to with the experience I had so far.

I bought this because I needed a way to watch my movies at night while the little one sleeps. Let me tell you about the rabbit hole of options that I had ventured into. But let me tell you its worth the sacrifice! You can buy little inline volume controls and have a silent movie night with up to 4 people. I understand these might not be a typical problem many have but sometimes the simplest problems bring the most complicated solutions.

Packaging and weight of the device are awesome has bass and treble fine adjustments which is awesome for headphones. This thing is loud, even when split into two earbuds. I imagine you could easily do up to 4 without loss of line gain.

I am using this with a SHIELD 2019 Pro and it picks it up and is plug and play. I imagine anything with android 11+ can pick it up as well. Switching between inputs is easy and well! I will update on the longevity of the device when I get to the 6 month mark. There is a 1.5 year warranty of the device not sure through who, but its a warm fuzzy feeling if warranties are your thing.

BONUS: My 18 month old child unpackaged the box, so you could call it frustration free packaging ;)

I am an audiophile with speakers in my whole home and used to install car audio equipment.

This is an excellent device for anyone trying to solve the usb/opt out audio streams to multiple headphones. Or just trying to get a little more gain from your headphones for gaming.

I wanted to upgrade my FIIO X3 mobile DAC for a desktop unit with control. The bass and treble knob are a bit stiff and small, bet they work well and the increment is slow and gradual (you can feel the increment 1 by 1 wich I like). The volume knob is OK: at minimum volume (0-1%), you can still hear sound but the devices is on the edge of being powered on (so you get sound, they you dont, then it comes back). At 1-2% volume or more there is no issue. The quality of Decoding is on part with price (increased the soundstage and a bit more detail than my motherboard's soundcard), but the static was a deal breaker for me. When there is nothing playing, I can hear a buzzing noise like static or white noise. Subtle, but drives me mad (+ I didnt have this issue with FIIO X3). I can't really hear the buzzing when sound is playing (too low)

I will admit, I was half expecting to return this item thinking that because of its price, there’s a good chance it doesn’t work well, or sounds terrible. I was absolutely wrong. - While this DAC + AMP isn’t “perfect” (it would be nice to have an additional mid adjustment knob, and slightly more amplification), you can’t beat how great it sounds given how low the price is.
Currently, I’m using this dac / amp to drive Beyerdynamics 770 (80 ohm) headphones, connected to the Q4 Amp via Optical (for its higher sample and bit rate) from my computers motherboard. Going from straight motherboard sound with the Beyerdynamic 770s to properly amplified sound was an absolute game changer. The sound is crisp and the bass response is punchy. Anything you can’t find tune right on the Fossi Q4 can be EQ’d out in your sound settings on your computer, but I have yet to need to touch the software EQ.
I would very highly recommend the Fossi Q4 for anyone with 80ohm or under headphones. (The listing says it can drive up to 200 ohm headphones but I think 80 ohms and down are where the Q4 really shines.
As for the Q4s packaging and the Q4 itself, It ships in an unbranded box, and is a lot smaller / lighter than I was expecting it to be. The fit and finish of the Q4 is clean, it has 4 little rubber feet that keep it in place on a desk or other smooth surface quite nicely, and the knobs and switch all turn smoothly. Also, it ships with a USB C to USB A power (for 5v), Optical audio, and USB A cables so you have plenty of options for connecting to your devices! (Even all at once with a handy switch on the front of the Q4!)
I rushed into buying the Q4 because I was worried about my 80 ohm headphones putting to much of a draw on my motherboards pre amp chips and frying them, and I’m very glad I did. I would buy the Q4 again in a heartbeat and highly recommend it especially at its price point.

I switched from the FX-Audio DAC X-6 to this one. The reason was that this Fosi unit has treble and bass EQ which was needed for the Klipsch Promedia 2.1 speakers, which have no EQ regulators. To my taste, it needed more Highs. Switching to Fosi was one of the easiest and optimal solutions, as well as having RCA output the Klipsch speakers.

As a result of switching, I don't see any difference in the sound quality between DAC X-6 and Fosi Q4. However, Q4 is a bit shorter unit, has Treble and Bass adjustments which make my Klipsch sound is nice now.

Q4 build quality, materials - everything looks and feels great. Very nice unit. I strongly recommend it.

This headphone amp/DAC is an excellent solution for my Sennheiser 560s headphones via USB audio. Bass and Treble controls are sensitive and noticeable, sound quality is excellent no matter what I throw at it, both hi-res digital audio streams and standard digital resolution. CD Rips streamed from my plex server sound exceptional as well. I've only used USB so I can't comment on optical or coaxial connections.

To reiterate the bass and treble controls, this is one of my favorite features. I have the ability to adjust the treble and bass per track as some recordings have much treble or bass for my ears.

Build quality is solid & all metal construction & I absolutely love that.

This gets LOUD, volume at 50% is uncomfortable to my ears. But all the detail is there, crisp highs, mids and lows are matched without any coloration. Very happy with the price too.

The DAC-Q4 surprised me and I highly recommend it.
