I ordered this vent/dash-mounted wireless phone charger because I was looking for a way to have my phone easily viewable for directions, and I’ve been using the kickstand wallet from ESR for a few months and have been impressed with the magnet quality. It developed my trust in the brand and quality of product, so I was hoping the same could be said for this.I didn’t want a mount exclusively for my dash, because I have a Ford Escape and the dash is pretty high as it is, it’d be like a flat screen and be too obstructive if I did that. I opted for the vent clip so I can tuck it behind my steering wheel and it’s not too distracting. I was worried because I had vertical vents that the stabilizer wouldn’t work right; however, everything is adjustable so with a few clicks I was able to rotate everything accordingly and she slid right in.One thing I was looking for was something that could hold my phone (15 Pro with Otterbox case), but didn’t have to charge it, since I’m trying to be mindful of battery preservation. Magnet works great without the charger, but it did come with the USB-C cable and a USB-C to USB-A adapter if your car doesn’t have a USB-C input. I leave it in my car in the event I need a charger.As for the test, I’ve driven some touch county roads, rode some highways and took some off-ramps with some dramatic turns - not once did it seem like it was going to fall off, and it didn’t look concerning throughout. Phone is still easy on and easy off; however, only when you actually want it to, which is nice. I will say, since I have vertical vents with wide teeth, there is some shaking back and forth (L/R) - this can’t really be stopped by the stabilizer, since that’s more concerned with up and down shaking. The vents could be looser than normal, not quite a vent expert. However, even with the horizontal wobble when the road gets dicey, I wasn’t concerned about it coming off.I gave four stars because I have yet to have the opportunity to try out the charging capabilities - I took into consideration many people likely look for this feature and didn’t want to seem overzealous before proper testing. I do understand regardless of the strength of the charger and its cable, it’s only as strong as the output provided by the vehicle.

I installed this on my Tesla and I have a iphone and S24 Ultra as well. The suction is able to hold onto the heavy S24 Ultra and I love that the iPhone supports qi2 fast wireless charging. So it is better than my built in wireless one. It also is in the perfect place to put it above the screen and easily adjustable. Overall I am happy with the charging and the quality of the charger.

- It comes with the cable passthrough which is the EXACT same color and fits perfectly in the center bin. Love it, I was not expected it to come with the charger!

Suggestion for V2 :
- Longer cable that you can run within the dashboard to hide it completely, that's it.

TLDR: Amazing product, if you're looking for a charger for your Tesla, just buy it!

So far this charger has been a great purchase! I’ve always been skeptical about particularly vent-clip chargers, as I worry about the sturdiness of it. But this charger has been extremely sturdy since I installed it on the vent clip (I haven’t used the adhesive attachment yet). Installation was very simple and straightforward, and came with directions too.

My favorite feature is the extra support arm that rests below the main charger unit - it provides extra sturdiness as it rests against the vent area, providing extra strength in holding up the unit and is adjustable as you change the angle of the mount. The cable it came with was a good length, though I opted to use a cable I already owned as mine is a bit shorter in length which I preferred. So far it’s been charging my phone well with the MagSafe connection, it’s not an extremely fast charge that I’ve noticed, though I believe that is better for battery health if I’m not mistaken. I haven’t noticed my phone warms up too much either while charging, which is a plus. Also, the magnetic attachment means it’s easy to take the phone on and off the charger- the magnetic connection is strong enough to hold the phone securely in place even with a MagSafe case on, but still easy to remove where you don’t have to wrestle with the phone/charger to break the magnetic connection.

Overall I’ve been very pleased with this charger and think it’s a great value for the quality of the product.

This is the best car charge/holder, that I have ever owned. I have tried several different car charge/holders in the past, and this is by far superior to any of them. It was easy to put together and install. It is also very streamlined, so it doesn’t take up a lot of space like some of the bigger bulkier holders do. The magnetic facing that holds your phone very securely, so that there is no fear of the phone slipping off while you’re driving. The magnetic case that I bought to go along with it, is superb. It is sleek, attractive, and functions excellently. I would highly recommend this charge to anyone looking to buy one.

First off, you should be powering this charger with some real juice. At first, I was simply plugging the USB cable into one of the available USB ports in my Chevy, wrong! I soon learned that these factory ports are much too wimpy to power this charger, I would keep getting intermittent charging, on and off. At least this is my experience. I learned that I need to use an accessory port using a high power adapter like this beautiful one:

All power problems solved! Also fyi you can also purchase this exact ESR charger with their own included charging adapter for about $10 more, as a kit.
My set up includes mounting the ESR charger to the ball end of a flexible metal gooseneck and it works great. I had to wrap a bit of electrical tape around the ball end to make my ESR charger fit tightly. This gooseneck has a big spring clamp at the end and can work great for any DIY install. I purchased it locally at a computer store but I believe this is the same one here on Amazon:

I would not recommend mounting this charger to a vent, especially because this magnet is super strong. I use an ESR MagSafe compatible case, see picture. It works and holds super strong on to the ESR charger, it is not going anywhere!

So everything has been working great except for one thing. If you're like me, you are constantly switching back and forth between Portrait and Landscape orientation. Every time I rotated it, the magnetic strength was so strong it would begin to rotate and unloosen the entire charger from the ball mount. Very frustrating. At first my solution was to stick on one of those charging metal rings on the back of my phone case, on top of the already existing ESR MagSafe ring built into the case. Because this provided a harder, smoother surface to rotate on as opposed to the soft plastic case material. This worked okay but the more I thought about it, I wondered why there was always so much friction when there shouldn't be any on the smooth glass surface of the charger. Upon further inspection, I figured out that the friction was being caused by this tiny black plastic lip that surrounds the outer edge of the entire glass surface of the charger. I am talking only about .5mm in height above the surface of the glass. You can feel it with your fingernail. This is what the case surface has actually been resting on, not the glass! Is this a defect? I don't know. But I have purchased two of these chargers and they both had this lip. Any ways, on to my modification....

I modified this ESR Charger by slicing off the excess lip surrounding the glass charging surface with a razor blade, see picture. Super easy. This allows for all surfaces to connect flat on to the charging surface. I held the razor blade at about a 45 degree angle all the way around. This eliminated the ridge that was causing the great amount of friction. If you always keep your phone in one orientation then this modification is not necessary. But for those that constantly rotate it, this makes a world of difference in smoothness! I removed the stick on metal ring on my case, don't need it anymore. The magnetic hold is super strong and I can smoothly and easily rotate between Portrait & Landscape, it works amazing! Now it is perfect, yes!

Ich bin absolut begeistert von der ESR Armaturenbrett MagSafe Kfz-Ladegerät Autohalterung!
