Ultimate Street Car (USC) takes place 2nd to 4th August 2024 at Santa Pod Raceway. It’s the Largest, Loudest, Hottest and Fastest modified car festival in Europe, featuring ‘Run What Ya Brung’ public track time, Drag Racing, Music, Club Camping, Traders, Show & Shine, Drifting, Stunt Displays, Jet Cars and so much more. It's the UK's most extreme car show!   As with all events at Santa Pod Raceway, the drag strip is front and centre, RWYB allows you to take your own car down the quarter mile, and the Sports Compact Shootout will feature 20 of the quickest "Hot Hatches" in the UK, competing in a Drag Racing Shootout. Favourite for the Shootout crown will be Ahmed Jamshaid fresh from reaching the final of Doorslammers and winning Vauxhall Show, however Wendall Brand returns to the track, also with a proven 8 second Civic, and Terry Newton will be racing his 8 second Escort Van, on the day though, anyone can cause an upset.   The Jet Dragster will be lighting up the quarter mile, plus an exciting line-up of weird and wonderful karts from across the UK will be going head to head.   Enjoy USC’s four music zones; Main Stage, Dance Tent (with outdoor viewing screen) Fuelers Bar - and NEW FOR 2024 - Ultimate Street Bar, with top-name MC's & DJs, dancers and awesome tunes! For those with Thursday Early Arrival Tickets, the party begins with Kevin & Perry Go Large in Fuelers Bar and DJs in Ultimate Street Bar. Friday Main Stage and Big Top host Carl Cox, Swarmz, Girls Next Door, BCM, and Richie Don. Saturday sees ArrDee, TeeDee, Random Concept, Jaguar Skills, and Silent Disco providing the evening entertainment.   The action will continue in the Live Action Arena with contestants torturing their tyres in the gladiatorial-style Burnout Contest. Saturday night is "flame night" as the biggest flaming exhausts in the country compete to amaze and amuse the crowd. Stunt driving legend Terry Grant will be here drifting his way around the arena with stunt rider Lee Bowers. Expect big tricks from the UK freestyle motocross team ‘Grizzle Squad’ making their debut at USC.   It's not just about the track at USC, the Autoglym Show & Shine competition features the best show cars in the business and there's room for you too! Diamond anniversary is not all that Dragstalgia has to offer! Now 60 years since 1964’s 1st International Drag Festival kick-started the motorsport known as drag racing in Britain, the diamond anniversary of this archetypal event will be a focal point when Dragstalgia takes place at Santa Pod Raceway Pod early next month. Europe’s biggest historic drag race celebration embraces many ingredients harking back to the sport’s ‘golden age’ – vintage racing machinery in abundance, of course, on two wheels as well as on four, but vintage music, fashion and style too. It’s a party weekend for all – you don’t have to be of ‘a certain age’ to enjoy the full flavour.   The arrival of two dragsters from America – Mooneyes and Dos Palmas, reflecting the drag race tradition of naming rather than numbering cars – will be an anniversary focus, but they are not the only vehicles crossing the Atlantic. A rematch between two Fuel Altereds, powered by supercharged, nitromethane-burning V8s, will be a Dragstalgia highlight as Randy Bradford’s Fiat Topolino-bodied machine from America takes on Britain’s Nick Davies and his Austin Bantam.   Pre-1980 is Dragstalgia’s order of the day. There’ll be a loud and lairy concoction of Nostalgia Funny Cars, Fuel Altereds and Front-Engined Dragsters, on methanol and nitro, mixing it up in a ‘cannonball’ format, while throwback racing groups such as Outlaw Anglias, the Gasser Circus, Supercharged Outlaws, Nostalgia Superstock, the Wild Bunch and the Willys Wars enjoy their weekend in the limelight.   On two wheels, expect a healthy turnout as the National Sprint Association corrals its finest and fastest old-school bikers, while the legendary US machine Hogslayer – will emerge from its latter-day retirement home, Solihull’s National Motorcycle Museum, to bark down the strip once more.   Alongside the track will be an array of distinguished drag race machinery on static display – Commuter, Tudor Rose, Motovation and 3 Allard Dragsters: names calculated to bring a tear to the eye of anyone old enough to have watched them in their prime (and not just from the nitro fumes) – together with some ‘cracklefest’ fire-ups.    There are club displays, and the Autoglym Show & Shine competition burnishes the pinnacle of automotive finery. If more thrills are called for, seek out the classic Ken Fox Wall of Death motorcycle show.   Come for a day and you’ll get an outstanding programme of events on and off the track, with live music in the Vintage Hub featuring bands and DJs and the Beer & Cider Festival. A late entry in the Sportsman class Competition Eliminator reveals the European racing debut of Carl Cox. The superstar DJ and electronic music pioneer is no celebrity dabbler. His Carl Cox Motorsport organisation numbers Isle of Man TT motorcycle hero Michael Dunlop among its roster of luminaries on two and four wheels, and Cox himself is an established drag racer in Australia.   Comp Eliminator is an umbrella class covering a diverse assortment of fast cars. Cox’s Plymouth Barracuda-bodied machine is a full-blown, 5-second Pro Mod equipped with a ProCharger, a blower device Pro Mod-legal in America but not yet in Europe, hence Cox’s presence in Comp. It’s like bringing a howitzer to a rifle-shooting contest. In theory, the Barracuda should outpace its rivals by some margin, though Comp’s complicated handicap start system is designed to even out the class’s power disparities. As quickest in the field, Cox will have to watch all his opponents set off for the finish before his own green light flashes, and hope not to trigger a red light in his eagerness to pursue. The Barracuda is already well tested and Cox’s Australian/American crew will be primed for action. How many international sporting events will take place in eastern England on Spring Bank Holiday weekend (24th/27th May) involving more than 250 competitors from 17 countries and drawing 20,000 spectators?   The Main Event at Santa Pod Raceway kicks off 2024’s Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile / FIM (Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme) European Drag Racing Championships.   There are cars that shake the ground and race at 300mph, and there are children racing too in the junior classes. While the motorsport world frets on over the knotty shortage of women gracing its racetracks, drag racing has embraced gender-blind competition for decades.   Sweden’s Susanne Callin and Switzerland’s Jndia Erbacher head the 300mph Top Fuel Dragster show and there’ll be fuel Funny Cars shaking the ground too. Nineteen wild Pro Mods will fight to qualify for bank holiday Monday’s 16-car eliminations field, joined by Top Methanol cars and Scandinavian Pro Stockers vying to launch their FIA championship seasons with victory on the Santa Pod quarter-mile. It’s the same story on two wheels, with Top Fuel Bikes and thumping Nitro Super-Twins bidding for early glory in their FIM-Europe title chases along with Super Street and Pro Stock Bikes. Beneath that European championship level, a full programme of Motorsport UK championship Sportsman classes keeps the on-track action at boiling point. And when not on the track, racers will be in the pits working on their machinery. Free unrestricted paddock access allows spectators a close-up view of all the action there too.   Away from the track, live music, stunt driving and riding displays are just part of a rich array of diversions and activities fit for all the family.
