About VPN by Google One

Why was VPN by Google One discontinued?
With the focus to provide the most in-demand features, VPN by Google One is discontinued. However, it’ll continue to be available as a built-in capability on Pixel 7 and up devices and via Google Fi Wireless.
What happens when VPN service is deactivated while I use it?
The Google One app shows an alert that indicates the VPN functionality is no longer available. Soon after that, any new or existing VPN connections disconnect automatically.
Differences between VPN by Google One and VPN by Google
  • For the best performance on Pixel, VPN by Google is optimized and provides a fully integrated experience in the phone’s settings.
  • Based on which network the phone is connected to, VPN by Google can automatically connect or disconnect itself.
  • The option to use a broader IP address region, like country-level IP address versus city-level or state-level, isn’t available in VPN by Google.
  • The ability to block the internet if the VPN gets disconnected isn’t available in VPN by Google.
