Omer, 25 Apr 2023Battery time decreased after android 13 update. Camera and chipset is fantastic in this price range Recently upgraded my wife's Realme 9 Pro+ from Android 12 to Android 13. After update:
Realme UI: 4.0
Android version: 13
Android Security Patch: Jul, 2023
Build Number: RMX3392_11_C.13
Main reasons for update:
1) Even though Android 12 (RMX3392_11_A.14) enabled 5G on this phone, it had issues. After sometime it will automatically lose 5G connectivity and switch back to 4G. Then restarting the phone is only option. Latest Android 13 upgrade resolved this BIG 5G issue and now we have strong and stable 5G connectivity on this phone. And yes this phone supports all 5G bands Telco's are using in India.
2) I saw and read reviews that claimed camera quality got noticeably degraded with initial Android 13 update. But since then 8 months have passed and the software team seems to have worked on the camera front, optimizing the software and camera hardware. Though I admit there is a slight degrade on overall picture quality on Android 13 when directly compared to Android 12. But we can live with it.
3) Battery backup after Android 13 upgrade seems good. As good as Android 12 and lasts for a day but not more. Daily charging is a must with supplied 4500 mAh battery.
4) ColorOS 4.0 overlay has significantly improved over the previous version and a joy to use.

From my experience, Realme 9 Pro+ shoots one of the best still photography irrespective of day or night. For videos it is still good but not the best. The OIS, even present seems to be limited in its functionality and there is shakiness here and there.

I was just thinking to buy this phone (Realme 9 pro+) as my second phone. I'm a beginner food blogger from Jakarta. I want to ask are this phone also good for taking short video for IG Reels and tiktok? (usually I took video with 1080p 30 fps with my Samsung A52 or Samsung A71). Right now my A52 are my daily driver, and my A71 are for making a content). I was thinking to replace my A71 with Realme 9 pro+.
I have tried Vivo V27e to shoot a video and photo, I think it's a little better than my A71 (in term of low light night photo and video). But I was tempted to try Realme 9 Pro+.
So, does Realme 9 Pro+ a good phone for taking video (indoor restaurant with sometimes not a good light)?
AB, 18 Jul 2023Is tecno phantom x better than realme 9 pro + Very hard to say, which one is better. Depends on user priorities.
Realme 9 Pro+ have better software update policy and going to get Android 14. It has better overall performance, brighter display and 5G connectivity.
Tecno Phantom X has glass metal sandwich true flagship level built quality, better display quality, slightly better overall set of cameras, microSD card support. On the cons, it is a 4G phone with Mediatek Helio G95. Still stuck on Android 11 even though Tecno is providing bi-monthly security patch updates. Software is ultra stable and less bloat over Realme. If you get the Phantom X at highly discounted price like ₹13.3K($160) for me, you can gun for this and will not be disappointed.

Indian unit?My wife is using this phone as her primary device for last 3 months. No fog issues on any rear camera sensor and it's lenses.
Phenomenal photo quality with rear Sony sensor on Realme 9 Pro+ running Android 12. No smartphone can beat this gem under $220 for camera quality except for maybe an unknown stranger named Techno Phantom X.
Does it have fog issue in imx766 senser?
Indian unit?
RishiGuru, 02 Jul 2023Realme 9 Pro+ had set a benchmark when it comes to still photography in its price segment. How is the battery life? How much screen on and screen off time are you getting with the stable update?

I've been eyeing this unit. because of the expandable ram then Realme 10 released, I have my realme 6 pro and starts to lag and some issues on battery then charger, I need my phone at work and I do play games CODM specifically. I'm thinking on buying which one is better, the falgship store at my place drop down the price of Realme 9pro+ to 40%-50% off I guess.
help me which one is better?
LoLz, 22 Mar 2022Remember, this phone is using Dimensity 920, not Snapdragon 695..
There is other varian "... moreI had high hopes on MediaTek Dimensity 920 shipped with this Realme 9 Pro+, and after using the phone for a week I am not disappointed. It is a very good and efficient midrange SoC built upon TSMC 6nm process and the 9 Pro+ rings every ounce of it with the Android 12 (Realme UI 3.0). Reminds me of Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G on my Samsung Galaxy A52s & iQOO Z5.
D920 is in similar category of SD778G, no chart topper but have enough power to grind through all tasks with ease (except for few heavy games). In return they provide great battery life. This SoC is so good, that Mediatek just renames it every 6 months with minor tweaks here and there and sells as Dimensity 900, Dimensity 920, Dimensity 1080 & Dimensity 7050. I mean this seems crazy but D900 & D7050 is virtually the same SoC.
The camera ISP seems very good on D920, understood not flagship grade but still with capable camera hardware found on 9 Pro+, shoot some amazing photos. If Realme had opted for LPDDR5/ UFS 3.1 - RAM/ROM combo on this phone rather than LPDDR4X/ UFS2.2 that it uses, the phone would have been even faster. But then would have been more expensive.
Omer, 25 Apr 2023Battery time decreased after android 13 update. Camera and chipset is fantastic in this price range The main reasons why I did not upgrade to Android 13 on our Realme 9 Pro+:
1) Camera quality got noticeably degraded due to some lack of software optimization on latest Android 13 update. This is often the case with Realme as they always undercut the budget/resources on Android software updates pertaining to older phones and rather spend on newer releases which are the talk of the town.
2) Battery backup got worse with Android 13.
3) Phone heating issue, with Android 12 their was almost no heat, which means great software optimization on A12.
4) Already the the last OTA update (RMX3392_11_A.14) on Android 12, had JIO 5G bands enabled.
5) My wife, the main user of the phone is not so fond of latest and greatest in Android world, and rather prefers software stability and camera performance.
Omer, 19 Mar 2023Downgrade to android 12 if you're on Android 13... android 13 messed up camera quality an... moreI have been eyeing the Realme 9 Pro+ for quite sometime now, considering how good the rear camera is at taking pictures, courtesy to the flagship grade Sony IMX766 camera sensor with 6P Lens and OIS. This phone perfectly fits my wife's requirement of having:
1) Excellent rear camera setup and also good front camera for selfies
2) Lightweight phone (around 180 grams) which is not so big
3) Good display with high brightness (refresh rate does not matter)
4) Having atleast 256GB storage onboard as she has huge collection of photos and videos stored from last 10 years
5) Loud stereo speakers
6) Presence of an audio jack, a must as audio dongles are a pain and bluetooth TWS causes more pain with additional charging that device too, audio lag
7) Good 1 day battery life
8) Good haptic feedback
9) 5G phone that supports all 5G bands of JIO (n28 & n78), good call quality
She had been using the Redmi K50i for last 8 months, great phone. Just the cameras fall short and the dreadful weight of over 200 grams without cover. Anyways, the 8/256 GB variant of 9 Pro+ during launch (16th Feb, 2022) in India was priced at INR 29K. To me just way too expensive for a Realme number series phone but I knew the camera will be extraordinary when price starts to drop after a year.
Few days back I saw the phone (8/256GB variant) in deep discounted price of INR 20.9K ($250) brand new during Flipkart sale. Grabbed the Green color variant as she thinks it looks more elegant than the overly flashy sunrise blue variant. The phone arrived the next day. Since then my wife seems to be nicely surprised as it ticks all the boxes in her requirement list at a bargain basement price.
The phone arrived with Android 12 in below version:
Realme UI: 3.0
Android version: 12
Android Security Patch: Apr, 2022
Build Number: RMX3392_11_A.10
Updated the phone to the latest version of Android 12 with a 1.49GB OTA update. After update:
Realme UI: 3.0
Android version: 12
Android Security Patch: Oct, 2022
Build Number: RMX3392_11_A.14
The reasons I did not go for Android 13:
1) Camera quality got degraded due to some lack of optimization with A13. This is often the case with Realme.
2) Battery backup got slightly worse
3) Android 12, RMX3392_11_A.14 update already had JIO 5G enabled
The phone truly is a very good phone with balanced performance, never heats up and very good display even at 90Hz. The display chin is a little big though. Photos from the rear main camera is unparalleled by any phone under INR 26K, even the new Redmi Note 12 Pro is a step behind in this regard. We will recommend this phone to anyone at its current discounted price as this is a true ACE from Realme, maybe the 3rd ACE after Realme X2 Pro and Realme 7 Pro. I own the 12 gig variant of X2 Pro, it is an extraordinary device for its price and the built quality was truly flagship grade. In comparison the Realme 9 Pro+ for its price offers Gorilla Glass 5 in front and also have glass back which add a bit of premiumness to the device. Stereo speakers are great in loudness and more important in the richness of audio quality it delivers at full volume. Great haptics too, though K50i's haptics is slightly more refined. Highly recommended phone from us.

Most of the chinese phone problems come from indian variant. So check before buying future phones.
I got it 2 weeks ago, it got an amazing camera, gaming experience is fine on Dimensity 920, it's stable and doesn't heat up,the os is clean, charging is fast, my biggest complaint is the battery life, it drains really fast and that makes me want to add more bucks for galaxy s20
