I have Samsung's default screen protector inside and a Zagg one on the outer screen.
First time the main screen gets a GG Victus 3 or better and i can put a screen protector on for an extra care and protection i am interested.
As long as there is big crease in middle and the main screen can be scratched even with tooth pick its a no for me.
The cover screen has to larger for me to upgrade
Samesung..
Skip this year.
I'm curious about the supposed battery life improvements due to efficiency gains. The trade in deal does kinda make me want to upgrade though, $1550 off with a trade in.

Did anyone notice that they said the Flip's cover screen is an IPS panel on the spec sheet? That can't be true, right?

That phone looks so mid. You might like the "classy" look but this ain't it chief. The X Fold 3 is miles better and Xiaomi's Mix Fold 3 is on a different plane compared to the Z Fold 5.
The Z Fold 2 with its bronze color was a beautiful phone, just not that great. The Note20 Ultra's massive camera bump was beautiful with the bronze color. That phone was one of the most beautiful phones I had ever seen. If Samsung just made a new Fold with the Note20 Ultra's cameras, an S pen inside then I'd buy it even if the phone is 250 g and as thick as the Z Fold 3. I don't see any other reason to buy a Samsung though, there's nothing in it for me at least.
When will samsung wake up and realize that the shape of their folds is just not optimal for use? We don't want super long phones you have to use both hands for even while closed.
Rip Samsung

Only the OnePlus open have a good design... The mi mix and the vivo plus honor fodables all use plastic bezels and it looks so cheap. I understand the camera hardware part, but it's still not a big difference except maybe main camera. But build wise hardware no fold matches the z fold except the Huawei mate xs from back in the days, but Huawei are now making cheap looking fodables too.
So Flip's only updates are, increase RAM to 12GB, Camera bump (just one not both, and still no change in Video Resolution, still 4K60, no 8K), current version of similar grade processor (no + variant), Mild battery bump, brighter screen.
Drawbacks still loom large;
Most important - possible move from OLED to IPS on front screen (talk about missing the memo on LTPO on cover to save energy in clock/notification mode.
Still No wired DEX (WTF!?! it's on S23FE !!) , still stuck in WiFi 6e, still no UWB for owners of Samsung Smart Tags, 5.3 (not 5.4 of S24 or Rzr50U), Still no 8K (again S23FE), still mediocre 10MP selfie.
Not enough pros to make up for the cons, even if exactly the same price. Better want the BudPro to make this a worthwhile upgrade. 🙃
Zero, 04 Jul 2024Wait... Z Flip 6 has USB 3.2, but not DEX support?Nine of the clips did die to sustained heat suppression being an issue - you see this with Dex Wireless and since thr Flips do not ha e a vapor chamber this is why.
Besides flips are targeted to the fashion user. Sad still.

J.A.F.F.O.
Wait. What armour aluminium. Fold was supposed to be titanium
Honor and OnePlus are the only alternatives in Finland. Honor was dead on arrival due to them waiting for like 8 months for global release and pricing. OnePlus more or less the same. Add to the mix software that still has growing pains and some hardware baby steps while still asking same/more than Samsung that also competes with big discounts and other bonuses.
For me its mostly about the Samsung Flex service. I had the Fold5 for like 5 months, S24U for like 3-4 and returning it now to try the Fold6 and lets see how long ill have the Fold6 for. And I only play for the months I use, only 250€ to replace If smash the phone to bits, regular warranty and I can end the contract whenever. One could think this kind of lease service would cost alot, but it doesnt really. Its the phones retail Price divided by 24. So basically If I was to lease the phone for 2 years, its like I just had a monthly payment for it. And if I did, i can then buy it to actually myself for not much by 2 years. But when Samsung releases refreshes every year, i rather just keep switching to the new stuff whenever i feel like trying something new lol.
This may not be available everywhere, but check your regions official Samsung shop online and see If there is an option to pay with Samsung Flex. Even people here in finland cant believe its true when I tell em. Personally I have no interest buying phones to myself anymore

It's a huge gamble and investment, that's why people don't like change and that's why companies don't want to do it.
