Apple have pulled the rug under other companies many times before, causing big financial damage.
Companies should be very careful to do business with Apple, and only when the contract is water tight.
Screens are too expensive, can't suckle on those fat 100%++ profit margins if you spend a few more dollas for them screens.
New yachts don't grow on trees, they need to be earned like every 14th villa or private Caribbean island. And by Jobsus, Tim will earn each and every buck by making hard decisions to cut every corner till only circles exist on every fruit product.

So just because one company is big it doesn't mean that they'll be great at another market especially one as technical as displays and more so due to the nature of MicroLEDs, how tough to produce they are. I'd have expected them to do research on it, which is possible for that company with their funds and lighting experience but not try to mass produce it, it was doomed to fail.

"Little" and "Random" are really not adjectives that can apply to Osram.

Sad because it was a big push towards bringing MicroLED to consumer devices.
And this is how Apple distroy small companies. First pretend to order parts from small companies, small company takes loan or investor money to meet the production volume, then Apple cancels the order, and small company has no way to pay back loan or investor money and go bankrupt. Remember the shapphire glass manufacture that apple destroyed or other small companies Apple destroyed we dont even know the name.
I really want microLED to succeed, since it would be so much more power efficient and wouldn't have burn in, so this is a great blow to that. Though, tbh, why did Apple try to rely on a random Austrian company here?
ams-Osram? Look at the stock, the company is going out of business. Future microLED is gonna come from BOE, CSoT, LG, Samsung, and Tianma. Apple have been trying to prop up European companies to fight Asian but totally overestimate Europe's R&D capability
