Ok, Nanoreview got leaked Antutu scores of the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 and the Dimensity 8300.
Snapdragon 7 Gen 3:
CPU 287928
GPU 169621
Memory 118543
UX 149687
Total score 723834
That is on par with the Dimensity 7200... which is a Dual Core. CPU wise is on par with SD 870, but GPU wise... is a big step back.
On the other hand the Dimensity 8300:
CPU 308399
GPU 479390
Memory 354102
UX 228281
Total score 1389713
Actually is the Samsung 8 Gen 1 but without thermal throthling. Is a BIG win from Mediatek since it can go to the Plus version too.

Certainly looks faster than the fan-favourite QSD 870.
I wonder how it holds up against the QC 7g2+, or the QC 8g1+ which are basically the same chipset?
If it's as fast/faster, that's a big win for consumers. If it isn't as fast, then I don't see it much if a success. Remember that MediaTek still has a lot of work to do in terms of long-term software support, the iGPU driver support (eg Emulation), efficiency/performance of the 5G Radio, and certain Co-processor usage (eg Encoding/Decoding). Just like how Nvidia RTX holds a price premium over the AMD RX products, the Qualcomm Snapdragon chipsets will hold a similar price premium over the MediaTek Dimensity chipsets.
Quite a promising looking premium mid ranger. Seems much better than the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3. Hopefully this makes it to a lot of phones.
One thing I am unable to understand, is why Mediatek doesn't have 4k above 60p, even in most (all?) of their flagships.
Lower frequencies to 2.8 Ghz and make it A720 and A520, I know why they dont do it, people would prefer to buy this one instead of the 9300
The idea of midrange having same Cpu as last year flagship isn't new, since sd 650/652 it has been like this, sd 730G was on par with 845, sd 778G was on par with 855, 7+ gen 2 on par with 8+ gen 1 etc.
It's gpu where midrange don't surpass last year flagship SoC. And D8300 gpu probably won't be anywhere near 8 gen 2.
In my opinion there was no need to move on to Armv9 until it has actually good cores but whatever

Anonymous, 21 Nov 2023Sorry to inform you, but it is expected 7g3 to be very popular like 695. at least the 7 gen 3 is better than portable modem
Anonymous, 21 Nov 2023Difference is when OEM pays for D8300 far less than paying for 8+g1.
I highly doubt chips ... moreThat is why all Chinese manufactur use both Qualcomm & mediatek
They let the market decide
If that market don't mind with extra expensive to have Qualcomm, then they will get Qualcomm
If that market don't want to pay extra for Qualcomm brand and want mediatek, then they got mediatek

I highly doubt chips like 7g3, D8300 or 695 cost $120, $140, $160 like qualcomm flagship. Probably half .
Now do math, let's suppose difference is $50-60/chip.
Multiply per number of chips bought.
Same reason Google uses exynos.
Tensynos 2 was $40, while 8+g1 was $120 and 8g2 is $160.
I keep telling people the old idea of current gen midrange being weaker than last year's flagship chipset
Is slowly being less and less credible with chipset like these
This is in the same tier of 8 gen 2 range
Vikass17, 21 Nov 2023I still wanted it to be A78. With two X1 cores. You want it to be Tensor? Multiple X cores isn't good idea, A715 without X core is better for midrange, most of phones with this soc will have poor cooling system
