Fold 5 is also using ddr5v
Hyperflux, 04 Aug 2023Really hope OnePlus doesn't pull a Nubia on us and release the 24GB RAM/1TB storage vers... moreAnd why do you think a company should made a phone for just less than 1% o of users? This phone has some specs that are useless for 99% but increase the price for all that 99%. For the money they pay to put 24 gb they could limit to 12gb and put the money left on other features like put a better camera sensor, a bigger battery, etc things that most users will benefit from it.
Hyperflux, 04 Aug 2023Really hope OnePlus doesn't pull a Nubia on us and release the 24GB RAM/1TB storage vers... moreAre you a maintainer of a certain open source project? I mean compiling does need this amount of RAM.
Anonymous, 04 Aug 2023What's the point of 24 GB of ram if phone closes apps in background after running like 8 ... morePeople with absolutely no lives to speak of, lol. And Android is inherently very, very poor when it comes to memory management so it needs at least 96GB of RAM to operate properly, haha.
What's the point of 24 GB of ram if phone closes apps in background after running like 8 of em.
And further more what kind of person needs to keep 30 apps at the same time on a phone?
Hyperflux, 04 Aug 2023Really hope OnePlus doesn't pull a Nubia on us and release the 24GB RAM/1TB storage vers... moreReally? You do all this on a phone?
And a 96 GB desktop? What for?
Maybe you should get some life...

Really hope OnePlus doesn't pull a Nubia on us and release the 24GB RAM/1TB storage version in Chinese markets only at physical stores.
To all you bots who think 24GB RAM is too much on a phone: have you considered everyone's use case? Try to apply some critical thinking and consider the fact that some people do indeed use up that much memory - imagine having tons of resources intensive apps and high bandwidth media/music streaming at the same time (streaming DSD audio or MQA via Tidal/UAPPP), thousands of open tabs on Chrome (this is purely user error/lack of time and resource management admittedly), VM's and remote desktop use as a small business owner, etc. My desktop alone makes full use of my high speed 2 DIMM configured 96GB DDR5-6800 CL34, I would absolutely pay the premium for extra memory but only if the device in question can output hi-res audio (not necessarily a 3.5mm jack since no one makes phones with a dedicated DAC anymore, it's all SoC including my Xperia 1-V and ROG 7) - as long as it's not a proprietary version of SDG2+ then it'll be compatible with aptX Adaptive at least which is all the matters given the fact that the only two good TWS on the market (Noble Audio Mystique, Hifiman Svanar Wireless) work best with that codec.
24GB ram?
Just how much ram that you need? Yes you... Google (Spy) Play Services, Chrome, System WebView, Play Store, all the preloaded (basically bloatwares) from google
