Anonymous, 23 Sep 2022It's war of numbers not quality. That kind of war is pointless. Once you understand the ideal sensor resolution, higher megapixel count doesn't really matter.
But high-res sensors make it possible to gather pixel data for zooming in, enough to read plate numbers (or identify people's faces) from 20 to 30 meters away (or more). This allows the company to offer some espionage activity for their government, especially when these 200MP photos are gathered with location information. ;)
But forget about my conspiracy theory, I just want 16 to 24 MP for all cameras in this quite pricy device.
I still think Motorola Edge 30 ultra is best option with this price segment

2 MP macro lens and a standard 8 MP ultra wide angle lens... On a smartphone that costs 850 euro. The only special feature is 200 MP, however it will give worse results than S21 series. So why is it 850 euro? For Snapdragon 8+ Gen1?
How I'm suppose to upgrade my Redmi K20 Pro/Mi9T Pro to this? Once Xiaomi hit number 1 world-wide their phones became terrible. Very disappointing year for them. Also, very disappointing year for smartphones.
Sanid, 23 Sep 2022Xiaomi used to put a decent 5 mp macro that takes good shots like in note 10 pro and even blac... moreMy 12x has a 5mp macro and yeah, it's pretty decent, it's cheapy and cheeky way to say you got a triple camera but at least is good enough that you can take nice shots, I find quite fun and unique, but 2mp ones? Completely useless, I understand why they do it, they know most people won't look into it too much or understand, so they won't care, and brands can say "look, a triple camera systems" or "look, a quad camera system", but it's such a dirty tactic.
I don't usually complain to everything Xiaomi is launching. But for the price of this with an ancient usb c 2.0 and a shameless 2MP and 8MP, Xiaomi is really messing up their products nowadays.

Nothing special in this mid-range Chinese phones anymore. Except the increased prices.
And the way they are aging (that means bad, the same as in the past), you are better of with a second hand Samsung or iPhone in very good conditions (from 1, maximum 2 years ago), for relatively similar prices (even lower sometimes).
The only positive on this Chinese phones is the super fast charging these days. The performance doesn't increased so much in day to day usage. But, you get average cameras, no IP ratings or maximum IP53 ratings, no wireless charging, and so on. Plus average software updates.
So, is it worth the trade of? When the phones were costing 450EUR maximum, maybe yes. Now, when even Chinese mid-range phones reach 700-800EUR (see this Xiaomi models or some OnePlus models like OnePlus 10T), I think is not worth it anymore.
Just give me 16 MP main, ultrawide, and tele-macro.
I bet the 200 MP sensor would suffer from noise. I would prefer the main camera to have an f1.4 aperture with at least 16 mp resolution.
I'd say the vanilla 12T with Dimensity 8100U should be sold for $450~ and the 12T Pro with Snapdragon 8+gen1 for $550~.
