The case was essentially a PR campaign by the lagging German industry against Tesla's inroads in the market.
Tesla is pretty damned close to autonomous driving, in my experience. I'd say within 5 years, and possibly a bit sooner, it'll beat human drivers on safety in 99% of conditions. Of course, while human accidents are non-stories, every Tesla accident is front-page news.

This should not be news, especially not outside of China.
I looked up "seres" on this site and Seres SF5 was never even mentioned, are you g--d--- kidding me? That was the 1st vehicle Huawei backed, sold a few thousand units, and the whole project was tossed aside. Expect great support and resale value for the thousands of poor owners who bought into Huawei's story.

But I wasn't talking about the car, I was talking about the software/feature. I'm being honest with here, you should NOT trust it. It is a BIG safety concern. Autonomous Driving has a long way to go (decades), and even Tesla who's had a decade of experience, they're far away from the target. And when you add Huawei to the mix, that's an instant deal-breaker for most people. As people said, AndroidOS is not a good tool to use for this job, and what HongmengOS is basically a copy or fork of AndroidOS (which would have unpatched security vulnerabilities).
I like what Volvo said, that if ANY car manufacturer makes an Autonomous Driving feature, and it results in an accident/death, then it is the responsibility of the car manufacturer to pay for the punishment/crime. As a reference, Elon Musk publicly stated he would NOT do that (no explanation besides greed). The other CEOs and Executives are no different to him, they don't care, because it's us (you and me) who ultimately pay the price. We need governments to force these corporations into those closed-positions, so the products they release are not a harm to the public. But our politicians are weak and corruptible.
Just the other day Tesla lost a lawsuit in Germany for having a defective Autonomous Driving feature. I say these things to bring public awareness, because I don't want one of those cars to accidentally to hit my car, or hit my body or someone I know.
At least is much better than Tesla which got another massive fine by German courts and have to fully refund customer also pay for the courts.

Overall all other car companies make better cars than Tesla. The only reason Tesla is at the forefront is because it was one of the early, vocal adapters of electric cars.

but imo we should put more trust on LiDAR, Elon is so wrong about it.
I would trust Harmony OS on my phone or watch (if I bought one), but my car thats a deal breaker. Since its a forked android, it has alot of security flaws. I just can't get the feeling of your car getting hacked while driving or stuff like that. So i would rather use a "dumb" car which I can control then use a OS that has flaws. I know I am being paranoid, but rather safe than sorry I think.

No matter which road you take, this car will lead you to it's master C C P. xD

Sorry Huawei, I don't want to see that car driving in my street with its "Level-3 Autonomous Driving". It just looks like a recipe for disaster. The LiDAR sensors look neat, but I understandably don't trust HongmengOS.
