Milan , 05 Jul 2008What about the gps? So what about GPS? Motorola ZN5 is Motorola Kodak Camera Phone; not GPS Phone.
What about the
gps?
Anonymous, 24 Jun 2008Too good...This one's gonna b a cracker...though competition for nokia and sony...Why, too scared of the fact that the "unbeatable" Nokia, Samsung and Sony Ericsson was actually challenged and defeated by the ZN5 in terms of camera quality and other specs? Let's face it; Motorola will NEVER back down from a challenge.
Motorola Alexander refer to Motozine ZN12 :
- 8 Megapixel Kodak camera
- 2.8" TFT 16 Million colours with 640x480 pixel
- NVidia chip to handle both video & 3D Graphic
- Touch sensitive navigation & sliding keypad
- WiFi
- GPS
- Symbian UIQ 4.0
Don't believe The Boy Genius Report and Engadget Mobile Website. They are such a brother liar.
Motorola Alexander leaked :
- 8 Megapixel Kodak camera
- NVidia chip to handle both video & 3D graphic
- GPS
- Symbian UIQ 4.0
- Release October (or maybe in Q4)
I was at the global launch in Beijing, and had a bit of a hand's on, as well as interrogating various Motorola and Kodak execs...
Kodak's involvement isn't just in product labeling - the lens, hardware and software for the camera were developed by Kodak.
RAW capability has been removed - Kodak states that this is due to the fact that most people don't really know about RAW conversion software (mostly true), but they were also quite interested in our (the IT/CE journalists who they talked to at the event) take on RAW in the ZN5.
I haven't seen the G902 or G905 (my colleague covered their launch), but am very familiar with the N82, LG Viewty and SE K850i. The ZN5, on first impression, is a lot better - there's no image fuzz in bright conditions, and the low light images rival most compact digicams. Panoramic stitch feature is very easy to use and quite capable. On-phone editing is ok - nothing complicated. The keypad uses MotoShift, but it's similar to the E8, though without the glossy keypad.
Overall, I was quite skeptical at the start of the event, especially with the lack of 3G, and got a bit irritated by the PR spiel "Not just another 5MP camera on a phone" without real specifics. Speaking to the global marketing heads of both Moto and Kodak was a lot better - they went into more specifics about the technology in the ZN5, and I'm looking forward to getting a review unit in a week or so.
The ZN5 is out in China in July and the rest of Asia by September. NA and EU later in the year.

You, my friend, are brainwashed into thinking that these companies make EVERYTHING right when it comes to mobile phones. The three are not invincible, you know.

Too good...This one's gonna b a cracker...though competition for nokia and sony...
Comparing to other motorola design, I think It got the worst design.
