Create better midrange better flagship and more important
BETTER PRICE.
In India you are already dethrone by Xiaomi.
SO BE AWARE.
Winter is coming.
Marco M, 04 Dec 2018FYI Nokia, Motorola and Ericsson were also once the industry strandards. . .
Exactly. The funny part is that the 3 companies you have named own the most IP around Mobile Communications, yet where are they now?
This industry is far too dynamic and built very differently from others

Hopefully no phones explode in Samsungs ambition to catchup though, that would not be good.
huawei will tumble sharp if we speak on value and ASP

Lenovo leapfrogged HP, Dell, and Apple--all established players... moreYour whole argument falls apart at the point where Samsung has lost sales due to higher prices and the mobile division is seeing lower profits.
On the other hand Apple are proving to be the outright winner in the higher prices game, Samsung simply do not have a loyal fan base, I can attest to that as I bounce between a Note8 and Mate 20 Pro. Where does that leave Samsung? Well they make their money mainly from Display and Samsung LSI.
You simply cannot compare the phone industry to the car industry, two vey different situations and as has been proven before, one can fall from grace in less than a decade, just ask BlackBerry and Nokia.

Lenovo leapfrogged HP, Dell, and Apple--all established players... moreDamn, that comment was supposed to be sarcastic.
I guess, I don't have talent for it after all.
Please just ignore me.
*cries in the corner*
how will Gartner come out with its future reports, when Apple decided not to disclose units sold?
Huawei is catching up with its sub brand honor. Price is the key for Huawei rise. Samsung needs to get its mid range phones on better value deals. At the moment Samsung mid range phones are rather mediocre or overpriced. As far as Flagship phones samsung is still the best in my opinion.
Samsung's biggest rival is no longer apple. Huawei is the real threat and Samsung needs to fight back to battle the copycat Huawei

Lenovo leapfrogged HP, Dell, and Apple--all established players to become King of the PC market. Changes nothing. The Mac line, XPS, and Spectre lines are still the lines to beat. No one stays at the top forever anyway.
Huawei and Xiaomi will solidify their place in the top 3 eventually. Wouldn't stop the smartphone market from maturing. Wouldn't stop Apple from taking home most of the profits. Wouldn't stop the iPhones and Galaxies from being the industry standard.
In a world of stagnant wages and increasing inequality, the Chinese are simply snagging market share by undercutting the competition in prices. That's a boon for consumers and whoever can't shape up would be squeezed out of the market.
The Japs did it with cars in time past. Yet the German Big 4 still tower above the competition. You can't cheapen class.
Sonu4678, 04 Dec 2018Nah, Don't think so. Apple will move to Vietnam or other preferred locations.
Sure, it would... moreAgree.
Thats what they've been doing now.

Nice to see the Korean mafia favourite, Samsung taking such a huge dive in sales, figures crossed it keeps happening, that should rapidly start hitting the rest of Samsung arms, if none if them are making any profit, I wonder what would happen if South Korea was warned by others NOT to prop up or give Samsung any more huge advantages over its rivals ? If its a choice between seeing bent Korean Corp or chinese firms doing well in the future, I go for the Chinese, Samsung have had 60+ years of un-fair advantages handed to them on a plate by s Korean governments, about time they and Samsung + others hit a good kicking in the teeth by others, even mire painful for them that it's China doing all the damage to them, they have hardly been in good terms with each other for the last thousand + years, now have they ??
Shanti Dope, 04 Dec 2018Somehow I think China needs to ban US brands from manufacturing their products in the country.... moreNah, Don't think so. Apple will move to Vietnam or other preferred locations.
Sure, it would be a headache for them, but China would also lose from this ordeal. I don't think China want that. China needs to continue developing till they reach at the US level. After that point, they might do that. US is already bullying them, but they are being smart about this. They really don't want to interrupt their growth.
Shanti Dope, 04 Dec 2018Somehow I think China needs to ban US brands from manufacturing their products in the country.... moreIf that becomes reality, Iphone sales will located in 'others' lol.
Shui8, 04 Dec 2018Still want to questioning why US ban Huawei?
Pun intended.Somehow I think China needs to ban US brands from manufacturing their products in the country.
It would be the most devastating part of the US brands, for having their largest manufacturing plants located in China.
