And who uses SD cards in 2024?
You can literally buy a dual drive USB Type-C/A stick memory that can connect to everything and has higher speed higher quality and better portability
People are stuck in 2009 ffs they still want SD cards in phone
This comment section is filled with people that either have room temperature IQ or they never used motorola
First of all when motorola says 1000$ that means 700 because it's price will break after 2 months so if you wait a bit you get one of the best flagship killers
Second of all who ever buys motorola or sony like me only wants 2 things and cares about those that are 1)build quality 2)raw smooth android UI
I don't care if it's update is slow i don't care if it's camera is not as good as S3000 ultra i just like simple UI with no junk on it like Samsung or xiaomi and a good looking phone that's under 800$ and doesn't force me into its BS ecosystem all the time like Samsung or Apple.... Even xiaomi is starting to monopolize its phones into its ecosystem

How does not having a card slot help it? Companies can still provide the slot and high capacity storage at the same time. You can continue to transfer data without switching cards and those who use cards would be satisfied, too.
I have roughly 60 GB of FLAC files on my SD card along with ~25-30GB of photos and videos. And as someone who don't wanna sell data to any "Big Tech", I still prefer using SD card for it.
Transferring them onto a new phone would eat 100 GBs of data before even actually using it.

Dra1man, 03 May 2024Who the hell uses the same smartphone for 7 years....Plenty of normal people use their phones for that much time! It is just the enthusiasts and planned obsolescence supporters that want to upgrade every other year.

What matters size of battery when you could charge it fully in few minutes. First time I had phone with supercharger, my battery anxiety was cured.

I judged from my own personal experience.
Yes if someone wants and need a phone with SD slot they can buy from whats available on market. For me i prefer bigger storage over SD slot becaue i am afraid of another loosing my home for SD cards due to same experience like in past.
Since i always use book case and a good screen protector my phones are in perfect condition usually like a brand new even after 2 years of use when i am going to sell them and buy a new device from my network carrier when my previous phone been paid.
Always doing this way because many years old phone can perfectly working for most basiic task but you can forget on playing new games and old hardware gets very hot when using.

Yes in past when basic phones and... moreYeah, I understand the frustration with losing data. That will always be fair. I don't understand why you tell others that micro SD cards are worthless, when you admit they have uses for some people. Sounds like you just need to argue with others, and considering you've gone back to proclaiming they are useless, instead of staying silent like everyone else does when a phone has a feature they don't need but otherwise like the phone, I'm done turning this into a contest as to who speaks last.
Me, and many others prefer micro SD cards for phones for reasons that others might not be able to understand, and that's perfectly okay. Making blanket statements in an attempt to devalue others or their device preferences... Isn't. You dont have to buy it or use it. I don't get what's hard to understand about that. Most people that want those features, just post their opinion and that's it. Judging people for doing that over your own biases to obtian a superiority complex... I don't get it.
Either way, I've said everything I can, have a good one. I'm out.

Yes in past when basic phones and midrangers had 32GB storage had a point. Since LG inventeed a phone with 1TB internal memory back in 2015 SD cards are useless.
You will break more often SD card than a phone. And a 1TB SD card is very costly and loosing it and all data in it is bad.
People like maybe you and several else who keeps their card in phone for as long as the phone keeps workign nothing should happens to the card unless your phone falls on concrete or something.
Someone like me who used the card to transfer data among several other devices twice a week that card breaks within first three months saying its need to be formated before use. All data been lost.
Nowdays i dont care about SD cards will buy a phone with bigger storage and problem is solved.
Even old UFS 2.0 is way faster than any SD card on the market and thus is better.
In worse scenario rather would use OTG cable and portable external 2,5 harddrive at least it have a lesser chance to get brken or bricked.
RemytimeLive, 16 Apr 2024I'm going to be real with you, Micro SD cards are not even close to looking like the Sony... moreSo you back up my point that certain things need them, i say this, some devices (not phones just imo) need them, otherwise get a portable ssd. You say samdisk do a 1.5tb card, ok well samsung, WD western, toshiba, samdisk, ugreen, can keep going, do bigger storage options for cheaper so for a phone a portable ssd makes more sense.
Also using the ultra version of galaxy phones that uses a stylus doesnt help you here, yes because they designed the phone to have it to increase cost to the customer and 5000mah battery is tiny for a device that big (my find x5 thats got a 6.5 inch screen and way smaller and lighter body has a 4800mah,phones this size and even smaller with 5000mah). It gives them a better unique selling point (a stylus with BT integration and can take pictures with it etc vs an micro SD card that just holds data and is slower than inbuilt storage, cloud storage and portable ssds and more expensive per TB of storage).
Also you clearly dont understand what very clever and good engineers have to do to make sure a SoC with the power of a laptop can be passively cooled in cramped space while including 5 camera modules, a motherboard and whatever else in a body thats what, less than an inch thick (my find x5 is literally about 10% bigger in total volume than my galaxy s7 edge which has a smaller battery and screen, only slighly taller than my lg g5 (same width and depth) which has a removeable battery, hesdphone jack AND card slot which the battery is much smaller and screen is about 5.3 inches at 16:9 vs 6.55 at 20:9).
Adding a jack (and a stylus port) creates structural weakness which means thousands in developing construction for the phone and part placement to make sure the phone is useable and doesnt have failing parts for years on end or shatters to pieces when hitting the floor. People dont want huge bricks like those construction site phones with 8k+ mah batteries but complain when prices go up and dont have a bunch of features that increase the amount of issues phones get, we seem to want indestructible devices that are almost 2d for space saving and we want 5 day battery when running basically laptop grade SoCs, its actuslly hilarious.
I also grew up through the 90s, 00s having devices with card slots and Jack's when wires and micro SDs were the only plausable way to get music or more space that i used FOR YEARS, we have BT and super fast in built storage with cloud which ive solely used now for 7 years, ive literally lived through the improvements and used the tech for the past 24 years snd the new tech is completely superior to old school jacks and slots.
