Twitter’s progressive plan came to an end after Tesla CEO acquired Twitter

Twitter had an progressive plan to tackle extremism on its platform, however, it changed after Tesla CEO Elon Musk announced to buy it.

The major task of Twitter was to solve some of the platform’s toughest problems like harassment, extremism and disinformation going on around the platform.

Initially, Twitter had partnered with a company called Moonshot, which analyses about the violent extremists on a platform and started a project called ‘Redirect’. This project was initiated to control the spread of harmful content on its platform. Consequently, the company aimed in guiding the users toward better behaviour.

However, before the project could gain success, Elon Musk bought Twitter for $44 billion and the project got cut loose. Former employees, along with the 70 pages of internal documents, surrounded around the Musk’s acquisition. This made some teams to break and several health researchers to quit because they were told to keep the projects in favour to eradicate extremism, secondary. Due to this, Moonshot partnership was ended and the health research team evaporated from 15 staffers to just two.
