128KB of RAM in 1990 versus 4GB of RAM in 2022!

In 1990s era, 128KB was enough RAM to run most of the DOS apps and 256K was too expensive for most of the default desktop configurations. Most of the apps were run one at a time, it had proper multitasking in the Intel architecture and was still functioning better. Every game worked at 60 FPS speed in just 128KB RAM.

The first usable version of Windows, known as Windows 3.1 came out in 1992. Also, the very first Mac was the Macintosh 128KB RAM was introduced. Accordingly, 128K RAM was required to run its graphical OS and suite of apps. The baseline for new PCs was set 128K while it was been 64K when the Mac first came out.

And if you are fond of playing games then 4 GB is not enough since today’s games require a minimum of 8 GB for smooth and better gaming. Today’s Graphics designing tools required a good GPU, at least 8 GB RAM and storage since they are heavy applications. In 4GB, there will be much of lags, stutters & frequent crashes of the laptop.

Accordingly, the 1990s era of 128KB was better than today’s 4 GB which doesn’t even work better for high graphical video games.
