Google has announced 10 new features that will be added to the Android ecosystem, and yes AI is a part of it. While checking out these new features on Google Blog Post, I noticed an AI-generated summary next to the share button.
Coming back to the features, here is the list of features coming in Android ecosystem this Year
Private Space –
For all those who love to hide stuff on their smartphones, this feature will be your buddy. It is more or less like a vault system, where you can save those apps that you can see. These apps will be hidden under the label Private Space and can only be accessed via a fingerprint scanner or unlock code.
Theft Detection Lock
As the name suggests, this feature will lock your smartphone if theft is detected. For example, if you are walking down the street and someone suddenly snatches your smartphone, Google AI will detect the theft motion and automatically lock your device, keeping all your files safe.
Real-time protection against fraud apps
According to Google, this feature will function like an antivirus program that detects fraud or phishing apps. Google Play Protect will use on-device AI to spot any app exhibiting suspicious behavior. If it finds an app’s activity suspicious, it will either disable the app or warn the user. Additionally, Google claims that no personal data will be collected during this process.
RCS Message support for Japan
Firstly, it is different from regular SMS, which sends messages over a cellular network, while RCS sends messages over both cellular and Wi-Fi networks. Currently, Google is working with KDDI and other partners to bring this service to Japan.
Google Wallet
Most of us save our flight tickets or other cards by scanning the QR code in Google Wallet. Building on this, users in the US will soon be able to create a digital version of your pass that contains only text. To do this, click on “Everything Else” and then take a photo of the pass. After that, it will ask you to save it, and that’s it—you’re all done.
AR Content in Google Maps
Good news guys, Google will soon allow augmented reality (AR) in Google Maps, which can be accessed directly via your smartphones. Also, Google is making a new platform called extended reality(XR) in collaboration with Samsung and Qualcomm that can be rolled out to the entire Android ecosystem.
Google Cast in Android Automotive OS
In this update, Google Cast is also coming into Android Automotive OS starting with Rivian Cars in the coming months. You can simply cast a video from your smartphone or a tablet to the car infotainment system.
AI on Google TV
Now with Google Gemini, AI will help you decide what to watch on your TV. It will assist you by generating translations or providing missing text to help you make up your mind on what to watch.
Wear OS 5 updates
Later this year watches with wear OS 5 will have a new update that will help you optimize the battery life of your smartwatch.
Find My Device
Later this month, you will be able to track your devices with Bluetooth tracker tags from Chipolo and Pebblebee. Later this year, Bluetooth tags from eufy, Jio, Motorola, and more will also be added to the list.
