Vivo Y28 4G launched in Singapore with MediaTek Helio G85, 6,000 mAh battery

After many leaks and rumours, Vivo has finally listed the Vivo Y28 4G on its Singapore website. When comparing the design of this smartphone to its 5G variant, it looks completely different. I’ll discuss everything from its specs to its pricing below.

Vivo Y28 4G Specs

The Vivo Y28 4G features a decent screen size of 6.68 inches with an LCD display, offering a screen resolution of 1608 × 720, a 90Hz refresh rate with eye protection, a pixel density of 264 PPI, and a peak brightness of 1000 nits. The design is also fresh with a metallic high gloss frame and weighs about 199 grams.

Under the hood, it is powered by the MediaTek Helio G85 12nm processor paired with the Mali G52 GPU. It runs on Funtouch OS 14, based on Android 14. Vivo is offering this smartphone in only a single memory option of 8 GB LPDDR4X RAM (+ an additional 8 GB virtual RAM) and 256 GB eMMC 5.1 storage. Even though it is being offered in a single storage option, you also have the option to extend the storage up to 1TB with a microSD card.

The rear features a twin-camera setup with a 50MP HD main camera and a 2MP bokeh secondary camera, housed in a 3D diamond pattern on the square camera module. Additionally, you get an LED flash along with dynamic light. This dynamic light comes with features such as syncing with music, general notifications, and functioning as a selfie countdown. According to Vivo’s official website, in some batches, the dynamic music light feature will be available via an OTA update.

The battery size has been increased to 6,000 mAh compared to its 5G variant, and it also offers 44W fast charging support. Vivo claims that with 5 minutes of charge, you can get 2.6 hours of call time, 2.1 hours of WhatsApp usage, 2.8 hours of Facebook, and 36 minutes of PUBG gaming.

The Vivo Y28 4G offers durability with its IP64 dust and water resistance. For connectivity, it provides WiFi 5, Bluetooth 5.0, USB 2.0, GPS, OTG, and FM. Unfortunately, it does not support NFC. It is equipped with an accelerometer, ambient light sensor, e-compass, and proximity sensor.

Pricing and availability

It is available in two colour options: Agate Green (dimensions: 165.70 × 76.00 × 7.99 mm) and Gleaming Orange (dimensions: 165.70 × 76.00 × 8.09 mm). However, you only get a single memory option of 8GB+256GB. The pricing isn’t listed on Vivo’s official website but is listed on a Singaporean retailer’s website at $269 Singapore dollars (approximately Rs 16,500).
