YouTube is at least trying to take music seriously, with tons of curated playlists, a dedicated music streaming service, and now a huge selection of remastered music videos.
Old music videos weren't always shot with high-resolution cameras and equipment, and in the transition to digital, they sometimes managed to lose even more quality before being compressed and stuck on sites like YouTube. It's convenient, sure, but we lost a lot of quality along the way, and YouTube's trying to fix that.

They've teamed up with Universal Music Group to try and fix some of these classic music videos, upgrading over 1000 videos in total with more videos added each week. Obviously the only videos that will be getting remastered will be songs and artists that fall under UMG's label, but YouTube could be planning to partner with other labels in the future.
Some of the stuff on this list is pretty old, but there are also some early 2000's videos that tend to fall in-between the usual remastering attempts. Maroon 5, Lady Gaga, and Smashmouth, for example, all have some remastered songs on this list despite being a little more contemporary, which is cool.
And if you're more into older bands, you can find plenty of 90's hits from Nirvana, Soundgarden, No Doubt, and more, and a slew of hair metal and classic rock bands, including Megadeth, Kiss, and Tesla.
But don't take my word for it; check it out on YouTube yourself.
