Latest Galaxy Z Fold 6 news
Introduction
The Galaxy Z Fold 6 will be Samsung's premium foldable phone for 2024, following the considerably successful Galaxy Z Fold 5. With the Galaxy S24 lineup going official in January, the Z Fold 6 is going to be the next hot topic of the rumor mill.
Design and display
Fans have been asking Samsung to make the cover display on the Galaxy Z Fold lineup larger and wider for a long time, and the company may finally deliver in 2024. Samsung has already tested various Galaxy Z Fold prototypes behind closed doors but has refused to change the design of the final product since the Galaxy Z Fold 2.
Those prototypes included one design that had a built-in S Pen slot, though it remains to be seen if that will be seen on the Fold 6. Samsung will likely take things one step at a time, so a wider cover display may be the only major change we get this year. A titanium frame may also be part of the package.
Specifications
Not a lot of information about the Galaxy Z Fold 6's specs is available as of February 2024, but we can take a few educated guesses. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip is a given, along with at least 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.
Its camera specs may be the same as the Fold 5's, but at least one rumor claims Samsung is looking to upgrade the 50MP main camera to a 200MP one. There is no telling if the battery capacity will be increased, and Samsung may decide to leave it to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 to provide any battery life gains.
Software and features
The Galaxy Z Fold 6 will most likely come running Android 14 out of the box, with Samsung's One UI 6.1.1 skin on top. All of the Galaxy S24's AI features will be present on the Fold 6, and we can also expect it to bring some new AI functionality. Seven years of OS upgrades is pretty much a guarantee as well.
Availability and price
The Galaxy Z Fold 2, Fold 3, and Fold 4 were all announced in August, but Samsung moved up the unveiling of the Galaxy Z Fold 5 to July. However, all four phones hit retail shelves in August, and the Z Fold 6 will probably come out in the same month in 2024.
As for the price, Samsung has sold the last few Galaxy Z Folds for $1,799 in the USA, but whether the company will target the same price tag with the Z Fold 6 remains to be seen.
