Two weeks ago, even before the launch of the Galaxy S23 series, Samsung started rolling out the One UI 5.1 update to the Galaxy S21 series. However, back then, the update was limited to European countries. Now, the One UI 5.1 update has reached the US variants of the Galaxy S21 series.

The One UI 5.1 update for the carrier-locked versions of the Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+, and Galaxy S21 Ultra comes with firmware version G99xUSQU5EWAI. The update also brings the February 2023 security patch that fixes over four dozen security shortcomings. The update is currently available on Xfinity Mobile's network in the US. Other carriers could release the update within the next few days. The unlocked versions of the phones haven't received the update yet.

If you are a Galaxy S21 series smartphone user in the US with a carrier-locked version, you can download and install the new update by heading over to Settings » Software update and tapping Download and install. You can also download the new firmware file from our firmware database and flash it manually.

What's new with the One UI 5.1 update?

The One UI 5.1 update brings improvements to various stock apps. The Gallery app can now display EXIF information by swiping the image up. You can also edit that information. The Gallery app can recognize multiple objects and people in the image, and you can long-press them to turn them into stickers. You can use your Galaxy Book laptop's mouse and keyboard with the phone via the Multi Control feature.

The new software also brings multiple battery widgets that display the battery charge level of the phone and connected devices. The stock camera app has a shortcut to the Expert RAW app. The Modes and Routines app gets new options, including wallpaper settings. You can also change the folder where you want screenshots to be saved. DeX has received split-screen multitasking improvements.
