The increasingly competitive sub-Rs 25,000 segment in India just got even hotter with the launch of the OnePlus Nord CE 4 Lite 5G. Starting at Rs 19,999, it competes with the Motorola Edge 50 Fusion, launched in May at Rs 22,999. So, if you are confused between the Lite and Edge, we are here to help you with our expertise. We have used both devices and here’s our comparison guide between the OnePlus Nord CE 4 Lite 5G and Motorola Edge 50 Fusion.

OnePlus Nord CE 4 Lite 5G Vs Motorola Edge 50 Fusion: Price in India

Model Configuration Price
OnePlus Nord CE 4 Lite 5G

8GB + 256GB Rs 22,999
Motorola Edge 50 Fusion
8GB + 128GB Rs 22,999
12GB + 256GB Rs 24,999

While both phones have the same 256B storage, Motorola has one advantage with its 12GB RAM option. However, it’s important to consider that the Edge 50 Fusion starts at a slightly higher price point than the base variant of the OnePlus.

OnePlus Nord CE 4 Lite 5G Vs Motorola Edge 50 Fusion: Design

Dimensions 73.1 x 161.9 x 7.8 mm
75.6 x 162.9 x 8.1 mm
Weight 174.9 g 191 g
Colours Forest Blue, Marshmallow Blue, Hot Pink
Ultra Orange, Super Silver, Mega Blue

This year’s Nord CE Lite has opted for a more classic-looking camera island than the Nord CE 3 Lite. It comes in three colour options: Mega Blue, Ultra Orange, and Super Silver. The one that we got for our review is the Mega Blue. It feels like the device is screaming, “I Am Blue.” While it looks impressive in the marketing materials, the phone fails to give the same vibe in a real-world situation.

When we come to the Edge 50 Fusion, the story is completely different. It is a head-turner with its Marshmallow Blue, which we got for review. The device gives a good grip thanks to the curved edges, and a premium feel thanks to the vegan leather finish. It also comes in Hot Pink and Forest Blue options.

So, the design battle is a close call. The Edge 50 Fusion boasts a vegan leather back that exudes a premium look, offers a comfortable grip, and might be more aesthetically pleasing to some. However, design preference is subjective. The Nord CE 4 Lite 5G might resonate more with you, depending on your taste.

Curved Display Yes

Both phones flaunt the same 6.67-inch display with a 1080 x 2400 pixels resolution. However, Motorola uses a pOLED panel, whereas OnePlus has opted for a proper AMOLED panel.

Now, let’s discuss the Nord CE 4 Lite’s display quality. It provides rich colours, deep blacks, and sharp visuals. Binge-watching 1080p YouTube videos indoors showcases a display that bursts with vibrant images. The phone’s peak brightness of 2100 nits ensures clear visibility indoors, though direct sunlight might be challenging.

When it comes to the display on the Edge 50 Fusion, it’s a mixed bag. Blacks are deep in videos, but there’s no HDR option on YouTube or Netflix. The phone boots up with the “vivid” colour mode, which might not be everyone’s cup of tea. We also noticed that some videos appeared oversaturated or overexposed. You might have to tweak a few settings and try different modes to determine what best suits you. Thankfully, there’s a saving grace: the 144Hz refresh rate and a curved display (if you are a fan of it).

OnePlus Nord CE 4 Lite 5G Vs Motorola Edge 50 Fusion: Performance and UI

The Nord CE 4 Lite has the same old Snapdragon 695 SoC, which is disappointing. Motorola has opted for a newer Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 SoC. But how do both phones hold up in real-world scenarios? Let’s find out:

The OnePlus Nord CE 4 Lite easily tackles everyday tasks, whether scrolling social media, emailing, or making calls. It can even handle a few rounds of BGMI without much of a problem. However, it’s important to remember that this phone prioritises everyday usability over high-performance gaming. So keep your expectations under check!

However, the Edge 50 Fusion takes the performance crown in this battle. It excels at everyday tasks, boasting excellent thermal management that minimises performance drops even under heavy multitasking. This phone appears well-optimised for Call of Duty: Mobile, delivering a smooth and enjoyable experience. However, performance with BGMI is a bit more nuanced. While the game is playable on even the highest settings, you might notice a slight difference in performance compared to Call of Duty: Mobile.

To give you a more objective picture of performance, we ran benchmark tests like AnTuTu v10 and Geekbench 6 on both phones. Here’s a breakdown of the results.

Motorola Edge 50 Fusion
558,439
OnePlus Nord CE 4 Lite 5G
479,921
AnTuTu Overall benchmark score analysis
Motorola Edge 50 Fusion
1,025
Geekbench single-core benchmark score analysis
Motorola Edge 50 Fusion
2,721
Geekbench multi-core benchmark score analysis

The AnTuTu v10 benchmark results reveal a clear performance difference. The Motorola Edge 50 Fusion pulls ahead with a score near 600,000, placing it behind options like the Nothing Phone (2a) at 692,449 and the iQOO Z9 at 725,780. Meanwhile, the OnePlus Nord CE 4 Lite scores around 460,000, falling short of the more affordable Realme P1’s 568,006.

Regarding software, the Nord CE 4 Lite runs on OxygenOS 14, based on Android 14, offering the familiar OnePlus experience. Some pre-installed apps, like Spotify and Candy Crush, are present, but they can be easily uninstalled if not needed.

Motorola’s reputation for clean interfaces continues with the Edge 50 Fusion. It runs Android 14 with their HelloUI on top, which means you get a bloatware-free experience and a focus on aesthetics.

While the previous Nord CE 3 Lite boasted a 108MP sensor, the Nord CE 4 Lite takes a different approach. It opts for a 50MP primary sensor paired with a 2MP monochrome camera. Despite the megapixel change, the camera delivers good results in bright daylight. Photos capture natural-looking colours with sharp details and minimal edge distortion. Portrait mode excels with smooth subject separation and accurate skin tones under natural light.

The 16MP front camera is a capable performer in well-lit environments. Selfies showcase natural-looking skin tones without excessive beautification filters.

The Edge 50 Fusion shines in bright light. The primary camera captures images with impressively realistic colours, and selfies are equally impressive with accurate skin tones. It excels at managing dynamic range and detail in direct sunlight, balancing exposure between the sky and foreground for well-composed shots.

The Edge 50 Fusion’s ultra-wide lens is a gamble. While it can sometimes capture images on par with the other lenses, consistency is a concern. However, we are happy that at least there’s an ultra-wide sensor—OnePlus has completely ditched the option.

Apart from that, the low-light performance on both devices is average. There is some graininess, and details can be lacking at times. However, the photos are still adequate for sharing on WhatsApp or Instagram. Don’t expect much from either device in pitch-dark or dimly lit situations.

OnePlus Nord CE 4 Lite 5G Vs Motorola Edge 50 Fusion: Battery Life and Charging

The Nord CE 4 Lite boasts a massive 5500mAh battery and a speedy 80W charger. This translates to all-day battery life, with light users possibly reaching a day and a half on a single charge.

Interestingly, the standard 5000mAh battery on the Edge 50 Fusion reigns supreme in battery life. It delivers two full days of use for moderate users, and even power users can squeeze out over seven hours of screen-on time.

We also ran a PCMark battery test on both devices, and here are its results:

OnePlus Nord CE 4 Lite 5G
19 hours 9 minutes
Motorola Edge 50 Fusion
8 hours 32 minutes

Verdict

So, here’s the lowdown on both devices:

Choose the OnePlus Nord CE 4 Lite if you prefer a better and brighter display. This phone’s AMOLED panel is excellent compared to the pOLED one on the Edge 50 Fusion. It’s also a great choice if you like the boxy design.

Choose the Motorola Edge 50 Fusion if you want a curved display, vegan leather back, better performance, and slightly superior cameras. If neither of these devices appeals to you, consider other worthy contenders such as the Nothing Phone (2a), Samsung Galaxy M55/F55, and Poco X6 Pro.
