Northside Gwinnett GME Class of 2024 graduates

Northside Hospital Gwinnett recently honored 28 physicians who completed the Graduate Medical Education program.

Commencement ceremonies were held June 14 in Lawrenceville.

It was the ninth group of primary care and transitional year residents to graduate from the Northside Gwinnett Department of Graduate Medical Education, according to Dr. Mark Darrow, designated institutional officer and director of the program.

“Once again, Northside Gwinnett has fulfilled its commitment in producing a significant number of physicians who are committed to practicing in the state of Georgia,” Dr. Darrow said. “Those committed to fellowship training are also expected to return to the state to practice if their training sites are outside of Georgia.

“It should also be noted that a vast majority of the transitional-year residents were accepted to very prestigious programs in such institutions as the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota; Brigham & Women’s (and) Mass General in Massachusetts; as well as New York University and Columbia.”

Family medicine residency

• Nimra Choudhry, D.O., of New York and Marietta is a graduate of Stony Brook University and the New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine.

• Young Il Chung, D.O., of Seoul and New York is a graduate of the New York Institute of Technology and the New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine.

• Llewellyn Rachel Delsarte, M.D., of Atlanta is a graduate of Spelman College and the Morehouse School of Medicine. She will be joining Northside Family Medicine and Urgent Care – Midtown.

• Yoona Kang, M.D., of Westerville, Ohio, and Cumming is a graduate of Andrews University and the Loma Linda University School of Medicine.

• Akaash Singh, D.O., of Decatur, Alabama, is a graduate of Auburn University and the Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine. He plans to pursue a fellowship in sports medicine at Memorial Health in Savannah.

Internal medicine residency

• Chief Resident Lan Lei , MBBS, will join Emory University as an oncology hospitalist and clinical instructor. She is from North Guangdong, China. Dr. Lei studied medicine at Sun Yat-Sen University and completed a breast surgical oncology research fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital.

• Chief Resident Mubeen Mandani , D.O., will join the staff of Northside Hospital Diagnostic Clinic in Buford as an internist. He was born in India but grew up in Dallas. Dr. Mandani is a graduate of the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and the Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine.

• Chief Resident Amsi Medina, D.O., will join the staff of Northside Hospital Gwinnett as a hospitalist. She is a graduate of San Diego State University and Drexel University and attended medical school at Burrell College.

• Chief Resident James Rizor , M.D., an Atlanta native, will join the staff of Northside Hospital Gwinnett as a hospitalist. He is a graduate of Rollins College and Eastern Virginia Medical School.

• Chief Resident Vini Patel, D.O., will join the faculty of Morehouse School of Medicine as a clinical instructor and chief resident. She has degrees from East Tennessee State University and Liberty University and is a graduate of the LMU-DeBusk College of Medicine.

• Goitom Abraha, M.D., will pursue an ultrasound fellowship at the University of Arizona.

• Michael Araya, M.D., graduated. He is a native of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, who completed medical school at St. Paul's Hospital Millennium Medical College in Addis Ababa.

• Kristina Carlson, D.O., will join the staff of Northside Hospital Diagnostic Clinic in Buford as an internist. She attended the University of New England and the UNE College of Osteopathic Medicine.

• Shelby Comeaux , D.O., will pursue a cardiology fellowship at the Medical College of Georgia. She attended Georgia Tech and the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine Georgia.

• BEZA GEBREMEDHINE , M.D., will join the faculty of the Morehouse School of Medicine as an assistant professor. She is a native of Ethiopia who attended Kennesaw State University and Meharry Medical College.

• Sean Montgomery, M.D., will pursue a palliative care fellowship at Arizona State University. He is a graduate of the UQ-Ochsner Clinical School, a partnership between the University of Queensland in Australia and Ochsner Health in New Orleans.

• Kelsey Kreyche, D.O., will work as a hospitalist at Penn State University and at Hospital Loma de Luz in Balfate, Honduras. She is a native of Princeton, New Jersey, and graduate of Franklin & Marshall College and the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine.

• Christopher Shoji, D.O., will join the staff of Northside Gwinnett Family Medicine in Lawrenceville as an internist. He attended the University of South Florida and the Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine.

• Andrea Theodoru, M.D., will pursue a fellowship in nephrology and critical care at Tulane University. She is a graduate of the University of Maryland School of Medicine.

Transitional-year residency

• Sean Doyle, M.D., Ph.D., of Concord, North Carolina, will pursue a diagnostic radiology residency at the Emory School of Medicine at Emory University. He is a graduate of the University of North Carolina. He earned a Doctor of Philosophy and Doctor of Medicine degrees from Emory.

• Arulita Gupta , M.D., a native of India who grew up in the Atlanta area, will pursue a diagnostic radiology residency at Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston. She is a graduate of Vanderbilt University.

• Neal Hall, MD , of Cumming, will pursue a diagnostic radiology residency at the University of Florida College of Medicine in Jacksonville. He is a graduate of the University of North Georgia and the School of Medicine at Mercer University.

• Shefali Jain, M.D., who grew up in Peachtree Corners, will pursue a diagnostic radiology residency at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore. She is a graduate of Georgia Tech and the Medical College of Georgia.

• Zohaib Lakhani, M.D., of Buford, will pursue a diagnostic radiology residency at the Mayo Clinic School of Graduate Medical Education in Rochester, Minnesota. He is a graduate of Vanderbilt University.

• Parker Nguyen, M.D., of Lilburn, will pursue residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation from NewYork-Presbyterian, the University Hospital of Columbia and Cornell. He attended Emory University and the Emory School of Medicine.

• Akash Patel , M.D., will pursue an anesthesiology residency at Brigham & Women’s Hospital.

Sports medicine fellowship

• Connor O'Sullivan , M.D., of Canton, completed his fellowship.

• Aalok Shah , D.O., of Lansdale, Pennsylvania, completed his fellowship.
