Building the newsroom of tomorrow, today
It's the last week of NewsU and I couldn't be more excited.
In ten weeks, we've trained over 320 News Corp journalists and editors across two states.
We've trained crime reporters and columnists, cadets and veterans, metropolitan newspaper editors and local news reporters. The cohort has included digital rockstars and those learning about digital for the first time.
We've exposed them to the latest information from Australia and around the world, and given them the digital skills to succeed in newsrooms of today and tomorrow.
We also asked for feedback, risky business when you're dealing with journalists, a naturally cynical bunch.
We received a 100 per cent approval rating, and feedback like this: "It's the best training session I have been at within News (and I have had a few over the years). Thank you for presenting it with so much enthusiasm and promise for the future.”
There has never been a better time to be a journalist. Audiences have shifted but there is still huge demand and appetite for quality journalism.
It's been a joy taking this program around the states. I cannot wait to see what we can do next.
