Some (slightly belated) personal news: As many know, I'm no longer employed at CoinDesk, where I was Chief Content Officer for the past four and a half years. Bullish, which acquired CoinDesk in November, last month saw fit to remove some of senior management, including the CEO Kevin Worth and me. They also offered me an advisory role and, after some negotiation, we've now agreed on the terms – which is why I'm finally going public with the news. That means I stay on as the Chair/Host of Consensus, CoinDesk's marquee conference, both its North American edition in Austin and the forthcoming Consensus: Asia, scheduled for February 2025 in HK. I'll also continue the Money Reimagined podcast (definitely not giving up on that one - almost four years strong now, with the amazing Sheila Warren as co-host). It's really hard to say goodbye to something you built over the wild period that coincided with my tenure at CoinDesk. Without a doubt, leading those brilliant editorial and multimedia teams was the most rewarding experience of my journalism career. A key highlight, of course, were the three awards the newsroom won for coverage of the FTX meltdown, capped by the prestigious Loeb Award, regarded as the Pulitzer of business journalism. https://lnkd.in/eck-6EPr But more broadly, it was the unique convergence of incredible talent, specialist crypto knowledge, intense dedication to the highest standards of journalism and unparalleled esprit d'corps that I'll remember most. I'm quite certain I will never experience anything like it ever again. So, thank you to Kevin Worth for giving me this opportunity. Thank you to Joanne Po, Kevin Reynolds, Pete Pachal and Emily Parker for agreeing to take on the crazy mandate I gave them to build a world-class media mission inside the madhouse of crypto. Thank you to Marc Hochstein and Karin Annus for being consummate professionals in your leadership of our events programming team. Thank you to my "PEG" colleagues - Foster Wright, Alan Campbell, Ellie Hirschhorn, Talie Schwager and Erin Scanlon - for sticking together through the thick and the thin of the past two years' extreme challenges. And to everyone else, to every single member of the CoinDesk community that I've interacted with, thank you for all that you did and do. There is still so much ahead of you. As for me, needless to say, I'm not leaving crypto. Once it has its teeth in you, you can't let go. I have some new initiatives in the works that I'm excited to let you all know about in due course.
