💡 A new article from Dr. Gleb Tsipursky for Forbes explains why most organizations fail at implementing #HybridWork and how they can instead ensure success. Here are some of the key insight we discovered: ⭐ Being intentional about implementing hybrid models is the key to success, such as deliberate planning and structuring. ⭐ One of the biggest challenges companies face is coordinating schedules and providing employees with compelling reasons to come into the office— such as mentorship and collaboration opportunities. ⭐ Companies need to invest in tools and strategies that facilitate seamless coordination and communication, regardless of location. ⭐ Organizations need to craft tailored hybrid work policies and coach employees on how to strike the right balance between remote and in-person work. Hybrid work can be a win-win for both organizations and employees when approached intentionally. By investing in the necessary tools and management, companies can create a productive, purposeful, and #FlexibleWork environment. Read the original article below! #hybridworkplace

That feeling when you really CONNECT with someone you've never met before... I had the pleasure of chatting with Sophie Wade earlier this week. Sophie is a Workforce Innovation Specialist and one of those people I could spend hours and hours discussing all things future and flexible working with. We covered a lot of ground during our short chat. One of the things we discussed was the fact that most orgs don’t have an effective hybrid work strategy. Most orgs have tactics and policies but very few (I can count the ones that do on two hands) have a well defined strategy and plan for hybrid work success. Hybrid work is a massive disruption, so why don’t orgs have a strategy to deal with it? Two points we touched on... 1. Although they've chosen hybrid working, leaders aren’t committed to it. They're hoping that things will go back to “office normal”, therefore there is no need for a hybrid work strategy. 2. Leaders don’t understand the remote element of hybrid work. The vast majority of leaders haven’t worked in an environment that was designed for remote work. They don’t know what remote work best practices are or how to deal with the challenges associated with remote work. It’s not easy building a coherent strategy for something you don’t understand. Our conversation was cut short as we both had meetings to go to, so we didn’t dig in as deeply as we could have. Any other thoughts on why most orgs don’t have an effective hybrid work strategy and the implications of this? If you want to test your company's hybrid work strategy ask yourself this question: Do we have a strategy that defines what hybrid work will look like in 2-3 years time and do we have a plan to get there? #workplaceculture #workplaceinnovation #workforcestrategy #remoteworking #remotework #hybridworking #hybrid #officeculture #workingfromhome #employeeexperience #employeeengagement #productivity #rto #changemanagement #change #culturetransformation #culturechange #strategy #hybridstrategy #fow

CEOs may be secretly concerned about hybrid work models due to potential productivity and cultural challenges, as they grapple with the balance between remote and in-person work, but it's essential to remember that not all CEOs are plotting against it, as many are actively embracing the shift for its benefits. #newnormofworking

"Remote and hybrid work shouldn't be implemented begrudgingly because when they're done right, employees and their organizations flourish. Which means that poor remote or hybrid work performance is more likely a management problem than a location problem." [Gallup, State of the Global Workplace Report, just released] 60% of employees want hybrid.* 33% prefer fully remote.* 8% prefer to work fully on-site.* *with remote-capable jobs. Is your company one of the 21% with a fully on-site policy? How concerned are you about people leaving? Are leaders worried work policies are impacting results? They should be and they are. Top advantages/challenges about hybrid work from hybrid employees: ✅ 76% better work/life balance ✅ 64% more efficient use of my time during the day/week ✅ 61% less burnout/fatigue at work ✅ 57% more freedom to choose where/when I work ✅ 52% higher productivity ❌ 31% Less access to work resources and equipment ❌ 28% Feel less connected to my organization's culture ❌ 24% Decreased collaboration with my team ❌ 21% Impaired working relationship with coworkers ❌ 18% Reduced cross-functional communication and collaboration ❌ 17% Disrupted process ❌ 17% More difficult coordination with teammates These numbers are compelling. [Gallup, Hybrid Work Indicators, data from November 2023] It's 2024. NOW is the time to COMMIT fully to your hybrid or remote work policy since ALL employees--especially leaders at all levels--need to upskill and learn how to adapt and optimize for (all) new ways of working.

This article from Gallup makes interesting reading - some of the feared downsides to hybrid working aren't materialising (eg reduced innovation is only a concern to 15% of orgs), but others are - and this quote suggests why: "Eighty percent of hybrid workers have not received any formal training on how to best work in a hybrid environment. Seventy-three percent of hybrid managers and senior leaders are equally unprepared to lead hybrid teams." What other large-scale business change would be met with so little training? Sure, hybrid was initially forced on orgs, and many are only sticking with it because they fear losing key players. But we're at least a couple of years in now, surely it's time to consider what new skills and ways of being are needed to fully support this new working pattern? https://vist.ly/knsx
