If I told you there was a company with 7.7M new users YoY, 50% in the USA, a perpetual 90% retention rate, $70B worldwide in revenues, and a 30% market share, you'd be eager to invest, right? Unfortunately, these staggering numbers don't belong to a company—they represent the devastating impact of the world's most prevalent cancer: skin cancer. I never thought I'd have something in common with Bob Marley, but in September 2020, I was diagnosed with melanoma, the same cancer that took his life at just 36 years old. This experience opened my eyes to the staggering reality of skin cancer, a disease that affects one in five Americans and claims over 16,000 lives each year. But the true impact of skin cancer goes far beyond these numbers. It is a complex issue that takes an immense physical, emotional, and financial toll on patients, families, and our healthcare system as a whole. The current approach to screening, which focuses solely on mortality, fails to capture the broader consequences of delayed diagnosis and treatment. In this article, I dive deep into the world of skin cancer, exploring its prevalence, psychological impact, and the challenges we face in addressing this silent epidemic. From the shortage of dermatologists to the lack of data-driven diagnostic tools, I uncover the hard truths about our current system and why a paradigm shift is desperately needed. But I also offer hope. By rethinking our approach to screening, investing in research and innovation, and empowering patients with knowledge and resources, we have the power to turn the tide against this devastating disease. The future of skin cancer care is ours to shape—but only if we act now. Join me on this journey as I illuminate one of the most pressing health issues of our time. Now that my kids have grown, they've become curious about my past. As we left France in January 2012, they never heard about Deezer. My oldest son recently googled my name and asked me a ton of questions about Deezer. This discussion motivated me to write the story of Deezer, not only for them but also for all the people who are curious about how we disrupted the music industry. It all started in the kitchen of my apartment at 78 Boulevard de Sébastopol, in the 3rd arrondissement, in the heart of Paris. I usually joke about the fact that startups generally start in kitchens in Paris, as we do not have garages like Bill Hewlett and David Packard, Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak, or Sergey Brin and Larry Page did. Join me here to follow the journey of one of the most iconic French startups. -> https://lnkd.in/eguUPm8T

QED ;)
