Here's a great write up in Ars Technica of our EmTech Digital event last week. (And this was only Day 1!) https://lnkd.in/eVat8K8P I am not impartial. And yet I am so very confident that our events are amongst the very best of their kind. Why? Because we program and build them for our attendees, not our sponsors. This is out of the ordinary! Yes, we solicit and support sponsors, but our top priority is to provide insightful content to our attendees. Our next event will be Sep 30-Oct 1, on the MIT campus. Look for updates on program, speakers, and special interactive learning sessions at https://lnkd.in/e8Pyaw_3

Using audio data to make robots better "When using vision alone in the dice test, the robot could tell 27% of the time if there were dice in the cup, but that rose to 94% when sound was included."
A way to let robots learn by listening will make them more useful

No big deal just out of home advertising in Rio featuring my smiling face for our EmTech Energy event that starts tomorrow. https://lnkd.in/eUEPiRrW (Was kind of a Carrie Bradshaw moment for me. 🤣)

I am absolutely thrilled to be in Rio de Janeiro for the very first time, to open the inaugural EmTech Energy conference. What a stunning city! We are expecting 800 C-suite executives all focused on addressing climate change and transitioning to sustainable energy sources. More information to be found here: https://lnkd.in/eUEPiRrW Our event leads nicely into the Energy Summit co-hosted by MIT REAP, which will feature even more great programming and discussion on these important topics. A couple of years ago I learned about digital twins when I watched Woods Hole scientist Anne Cohen present her work creating a digital twin of a coral reef in the Pacific. (More here: https://lnkd.in/epnHrjQn) The aim was to determine which of an assortment of corrective actions would best foster, support, and nurture marine life on a coral reef that was dying due to oceanic warming. (Cohen's presentation was at one of MIT Technology Review's EmTech events, always my favorite place to understand how technology is really impacting our world.) Digital twins - such a simple, smart concept! - are a valuable tool for scientists and corporations to engage in experimentation and scenario planning.
Digital twins are helping scientists run the world’s most complex experiments

🎉 Thanks to Ian Keller, Brian Bryson, and Elizabeth Bramson-Boudreau, I had the opportunity to speak at the MIT Technology Review #EmTechDigital2024 event last Thursday on the topic of AI and the Next-Generation Workforce. Will share snippets of that segment in future posts, but for now, wanted to share a few takeaways I had from a very exciting lineup which featured industry and academic leaders who spoke on wind ranging topics related to Harnessing the Power of AI and Accelerating Innovation with AI. 1️⃣ while it feels like AI is advancing in leaps, it takes a series of small steps to make each leap possible. Organizations should consider the steps needed to make the leap to their own workforces fully adopting AI, such as establishing AI Ethics councils, AI fluency academies for upskilling the workforce, or even changing how employees are recognized for innovating with AI. 2️⃣ as more AI use cases shift from pilot to production, it will be important for organizations to challenge legacy concepts like what a typical job, or team, or even organizational construct looks like. 3️⃣ it is important to take a human centric approach, as efficiency with AI is good, but innovation and growth is better - and in a world where the population is aging and/or declining in certain geographies, AI has the potential to continue to unlock new avenues for human sustainability and human productivity. Thanks again to the MIT for having me, it was truly special to be part of the conversation. #Deloitte #HumanCapital #FutureofWork #GenAI #EnablinganAIpoweredWorkforce

1moElizabeth, I thought the agenda was thoughtfully put together - covered a wide array of topics with a nice flow that allowed discussions to stand on their own while feeling connected to the whole. I certainly learned a lot on Day 2 and used some of that info to re-think some of my own messaging on the fly!
