Introducing the #Honor #Magic V Flip with #SMA #OIS Technology! 📸 Honor has unveiled its first clamshell foldable phone, the Magic V Flip, featuring Shape Memory Alloy (SMA) Optical Image Stabilisation (OIS). Announced by Honor CEO Mr. George Zhao, the ultra-slim and lightweight Magic V Flip boasts a 50MP main camera with SMA Lens Shift OIS, a 12MP ultra-wide macro lens, and a 50MP selfie camera to enable SLR-level camera capabilities. Introducing SMA OIS into the main camera enables improved image quality, especially in low light conditions. SMA actuator technology is well suited for folded handsets due to its compact size, low z-height, and lack of electromagnetic interference (EMI), especially critical when magnetic technology is used in the handset. 📱 Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/e4uXiuB2 Learn more about SMA technology by Cambridge Mechatronics Ltd, which has shipped in over 75 million handsets to date. https://lnkd.in/gHcK6jw #HonorMagicVFlip #SMAInnovation #FoldableTech #MobilePhotography

From an academic learning about commercialisation, to a career spanning 25 years working on novel technology, we were thrilled to talk to Ben Brown, CTO at Cambridge Mechatronics Ltd this week. From colloids at the University of Cambridge, to ink at TTP plc and jumping into the world’s best loudspeaker development at Cambridge Mechatronics, Ben has much experience to share with our listeners. Now with a focus on actuators, we learn about the magic of Shape Memory Alloy and how Cambridge Mechatronics has cornered that market globally with a list of patents that would rival Arm to Rolls-Royce. We talked to Ben about the company's move from ‘hidden gem’ to a much more public profile, triggered by their first external funding round by Atlantic Bridge, Sony, and Intel Corporation, and what that means to the business model and future portfolio. Ben also shares useful lessons about building relationships in Japan, Taiwan, and China, and the dynamics of doing business in the Far East. We think you’ll agree that Cambridge Mechatronics is a great representation of a multi-disciplinary tech team of silicon, firmware, software, material scientists, physicists, and more. And with an expansion into new premises on Cambridge Science Park and a new office in Copenhagen, they are certainly a tech company to watch.
