With an initial focus on Infantile Spasms (IS) - a rare and sometimes life-threatening form of pediatric epilepsy - we recognize the significant emotional burden this condition imposes on families. Pyros is working to offer an enhanced treatment option for families affected by IS and other rare diseases.


Role Summary


The Vice President, Corporate Controller, reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, will lead the areas of general accounting and finance and ensure compliance according to GAAP, federal, state, local laws, and company policies. This individual will manage financial information for financial statements, create and enhance accounting and control systems, and operate vendor systems. The Controller will interface with all departments as the finance business partner in support of key business decisions.


Responsibilities


  • Oversee and manage accounting and finance, which includes but is not limited to, treasury, payroll, equity, revenue, EBITDA, gross to net, rebates, assets, and financial statement close processes.
  • Lead the preparation of the company’s quarterly and annual financial statements and filings in accordance with GAAP.
  • Prepare annual budgets that meet management’s profit goals and produce forecasts.
  • Ensure accounts payable include all applicable discounts and are paid on time, and guarantee accounts receivable are collected promptly.
  • Calculate discrepancies from the budget and report considerable issues to management and calculate and deliver financial and operating metrics.
  • Process payroll on time.
  • Facilitate and operate the completion of month-end, quarter-end, and year-end accounting close, account reconciliations, and GL analysis in compliance with reporting deadlines.
  • Evaluate the balance sheet and income statement to identify accounting and/or reporting concerns that may violate GAAP or SEC rules and regulations.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations and reports to the Board of Directors, lenders, and shareholders.
  • Organize and supervise the year-end audit, including the internal and external audit functions, and quarterly reviews.
  • Review and approve journal entries.
  • Oversee the 401(k) plan and all applicable compliance.
  • Ensure compliance of internal controls over financial reporting.
  • Oversee and manage taxes and ensure compliance with applicable tax laws.
  • Review, assess and implement the impact of all new accounting and reporting statements issued.
  • Lead financial decisions by instituting, monitoring, and enforcing financial policies and procedures.
  • Lead and manage direct reports, including but not limited to, setting clear goals and expectations, managing performance with regular feedback and coaching, and motivating and supporting direct reports for them to develop.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Skills & Requirements


  • Strong financial and accounting experience in the following areas is required: economic principles, financial markets, banking, gross to net, rebates, financial data analysis, forecasting, reporting, payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable functions.
  • Private equity experience.
  • Experience of responsibility for all financial data, reporting, and audit coordination in accordance with US GAAP.
  • The ability to deliver quality work on tight deadlines, with effective organization and priority setting skills.
  • NetSuite and Microsoft Office experience.
  • The ability to demonstrate strong leadership skills is required.
  • Knowledge and proficiency in accounting software systems and Microsoft Excel.
  • Skilled in communicating financial information in comprehensive business language in layperson's terms for all levels of employees in the company.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
  • High attention to detail, and strong decision-making skills.


Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, or related field. Master of Accountancy or MBA is highly desired.
  • 10+ years’ progressive experience in finance and accounting.
  • Pharmaceutical industry experience.
  • CPA certification.


Physical Demands


  • Occasionally travel to headquarters and business meetings.
  • Occasionally mobile within home office environment.
  • Routinely in a stationary position for extended periods of time.
  • Constantly operating a computer, printer, telephone, and other similar office machinery.
