Serving as an outward face & voice for PACT, the VP, Business Development & Operations will cultivate relationships, secure new business, and drive engagement to propel membership and sponsor growth. Overseeing core functions like membership, marketing, and events, this leader will work hand-in-hand with the CEO to shape PACT's strategic direction.

The Philadelphia Alliance for Capital and Technologies (PACT) is seeking a Vice President, Business Development & Operations (VP) to contribute to our mission of being a go-to resource for fast growing companies, a driver of entrepreneurship and innovation in the Philadelphia region, and a leader in creating access and equity for underrepresented founders.


At PACT, we connect emerging companies, investors, tech-enabled corporations, universities, and professional advisors to help them build relationships, pursue business opportunities, and market and promote their businesses. Our goal is to provide our community with access to capital opportunities, customer and partner relationships, and coaching and workforce development initiatives that will help them – and our region – thrive.


The VP, Business Development & Operations will have both external facing and internal facing responsibilities. The VP will be responsible for cultivating relationships, closing business and driving engagement to lead growth of the PACT membership and sponsors. The VP will oversee membership, marketing and events functions leading a team of 4. The VP will be expected to implement processes to improve the efficiency and execution of core PACT functions while holding the team accountable through metrics. The VP will work closely with the CEO of PACT to drive the strategy of PACT, to serve as an outward “face” and “voice” for PACT in the community and to the PACT Board and to lead the internal operations of the organization.


Responsibilities Include:


  • Oversee membership and sponsorship as a fully-integrated effort to engage, deliver value to and renew existing members/sponsors, and to prospect and close new members/sponsors both directly and through channel partners.
  • Lead the cultivation of relationships with members, Founding Leaders, sponsors, prospects and other stakeholders to ensure that key points of contacts at each organization are mapped and engaged in meaningful ways (including CEO’s, C-suite executives and other functional leaders)
  • Works as a leader, partner and connector across the PACT team to develop and “quarterback” member and sponsor engagement strategy including:

>alongside the President & CEO to engage key executives and industry partners in PACT.

>alongside the CEO and events team to optimize high-level sponsor engagement.

>alongside the programs and events leads, engage members in committees, advisory boards, program and event content development, and speaking opportunities.

>alongside the Director of Marketing to ensure PACT members ability to amplify their brand and engage in thought leadership opportunities via marketing content and digital channels.

>alongside the Director of Membership to onboard new PACT members and steer current PACT members through a revamped renewal process.

  • Tracks member and sponsor engagement KPI’s, ensuring PACT’s ability to quantify and communicate ROI to members and sponsors.
  • Coordinate recurring member meetings/calls/zooms to ensure PACT members at all levels have relevant information and access to PACT resources.
  • Participate as a public-facing, an active community member and thought leader within the greater Philadelphia tech and innovation ecosystem, and act as a key contact within PACT for community partners


Requirements:


  • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 7-10 years of experience in leading business development, marketing, and/or operations.
  • Knowledge and comprehension of tech industry trends, including enterprise technology, healthcare innovation, startups and entrepreneurship, venture capital required.
  • Familiarity with the PACT audience and the Philadelphia tech and healthcare innovation community preferred.
  • A natural connector who thrives on building relationships and engaging with C-suite executives
  • Ability to connect the dots among the PACT community, and across industry trends.
  • Excellent community skills and social acuity.
  • Strong written communication skills are a must.
  • Executive presence; comfortable reaching out to and connecting with C-level executives.
  • A creative and innovative thinker; driven by curiosity.
  • Strong project management skills, organizational skills and the ability to prioritize responsibilities.
  • Able to work independently as well as collaboratively; a good teammate who’s invested in the mission and success of the organization.


Technical Proficiencies:


  • Microsoft 365, Teams; CRM management; AI knowledge a plus


This is a remote work position, with on-site support for PACT programs and events in and around Greater Philadelphia as-needed (and when feasible to do so). Residence in the Greater Philadelphia region is required.
