The Trade Compliance Advisor will be responsible for ensuring compliance with SEC, CFTC, and Exchange Rules in the Company’s daily trading operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of derivatives trading concepts for exchange traded and bi-lateral transactions, as well as a deep knowledge of oil and refined products markets, hedging strategy, and oil & gas market fundamentals. This role requires a highly analytical professional who will respond to management requests, prepare memos and reports, conduct audits, and draft and implement company policies and procedures. It will be essential for this role to be an excellent communicator and have a knowledge of the company’s internal regulations and the crude oil trade business.


Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement company policies, guidelines and procedures
  • Monitor derivatives and physical trading activity for compliance with federal regulation and exchange rules
  • Provide legal, regulatory, and compliance advice and assistance to the business and trading support functions
  • Review and evaluate company policies and procedures and identify risks
  • Perform compliance processes to ensure adherence to SEC, FERC, CFTC, CME, and ICE Exchange Rules.
  • Participating in reviews of new transactions as part of the trading business analyzing the impact on compliance.
  • Implement monitoring procedures based on changes to business trading activity and the latest rules and regulations.
  • Review and prepare responses to internal audits and perform compliance audits
  • Prepare presentations and train employees on compliance matters
  • Supervise compliance team on compliance matters
  • Manage the conduct of vessel and counterparty vetting
  • Require and respond to compliance due diligence questionnaires


Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 5+ years of experience in a corporate compliance role.
  • Knowledge of terms and conditions used in crude oil purchase and sale agreements.
  • Understanding of the global regulatory landscape for commodity and financial trading.
  • Existing knowledge of and use of trading analytical tools and trade surveillance software.
  • Highly organized self-starter with the ability to deliver a high level of quality in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
