Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree with a major or minor in the subject area.
Tuberculin Skin test certifying that the individual is free of contagious tuberculosis.
Must meet all pre-employment screenings.
Eligible for, or in possession of, appropriate Virginia Teaching Certificate.
Demonstrates an in-depth knowledge of the subject(s) to be taught.
Work involves exposure to normal everyday hazards.
Work is performed in a classroom and requires no unusual demand.
In depth knowledge of the subject(s) to be taught.
Demonstrates considerable knowledge of the principles and methodologies of effective teaching.
Has the ability to deliver articulate oral presentations and written reports.
Effectively interacts with pupils, colleagues, administrators and classified employees.
Knowledgeable in the use of personal computers and graphing technologies.
Nature of Position
Teaches up to four blocks per school day, with one non-instructional block for planning, grading papers, and individual conferences with parents and students.
Shapes and directs students’ activities so that they have opportunities to engage meaningfully in class.
Responsible directly to the principal or designee.
