Overview of the Malden Public Schools: The Malden Public Schools (MPS) is a richly diverse school district located within the Greater Boston area and accessible by the MBTA orange line train. Malden’s student body comprises approximately 6,800 students who represent 59 different countries and speak 67 different languages. We have 1 early learning center, 5 K-8 schools, and 1 high school. Qualifications
Training and experience in using scientifically researched, systematic and multi-sensory programs (ie. Orton-Gillingham, Wilson, Project Read, LiPS) required; with certification in at least one of the following: Orton Gillingham/ Wilson/ Lindamood-Bell Reading program
Licensure in Moderate Special Needs by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary & Secondary Education required
Master’s degree required;
Minimum three years’ experience working in a school setting with students with language based learning disabilities preferred;
Must have demonstrated success with and be knowledgeable about research-based interventions for children with language-based disabilities
Thorough knowledge of the developmental process of reading and writing methods required;
Proficient in understanding diagnostic procedures, use and interpretation of various assessment tools, and goal/program/IEP development required;
Knowledge of the MA Curriculum Frameworks Standards and experience with content area planning and instruction;
Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing required.
Salary: In accordance with Unit A contact.
Funding: This position is funded through the district's 240 grant.
