Job Title: Singer/Musician Status: On-Call (Paid per Event or per Mass)

Exemption Status: Non-exempt

Department/Location: Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Parish / Florence, Arizona

Primary Function: Under the direction of the Pastor responsible for working cooperatively with the Pastor, parish leaders School Principal, and others to foster music and liturgy that promote the full, conscious, and active participation of the assembly. The Employee shall be a minister of the Gospel and Catholic Teaching both academically and behaviorally while at work and in his/her personal life, “…Live in a manner worthy of the call you have received.” (Eph. 4:1)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Perform as a lay minister in support of the parish’s spiritual and pastoral mission.
• Shall abide by Catholic principles in the singer’s professional and private life and shall govern his/her professional and private life in strict accordance with Catholic morals and principles to demonstrate complete adherence to Catholic moral strictures.
• Perform as a singer for the assigned musical events.
• Maintain Church protocol including maintaining an environment of respect and solemnity at all liturgical celebrations
• Maintain open communications with volunteer musicians
• Perform other duties as assigned
  
  
  

Physical/Mental Requirements: Requires coordination and manual dexterity, normal mental and visual ability; ability to lift as required in a normal musical environment.

Required Activities: Walking; sitting; standing; stooping; reaching; talking; handling, hearing; carrying; and keyboarding.

Basic Qualifications:

• Exercise courtesy to fellow employees, parishioners, and the general public
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment; punctuality is a must at all times.
• Professional bearing; clean and neat personal appearance
• Ability to successfully pass a background and criminal history check.
  
  
  

Education and Experience:

• A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in vocal music.
  
  
  

Other/Preferred Skills:

• Degree in Music
