Position Overview:
Our client, a prestigious asset management firm, is seeking an experienced and strategic finance leader to join their leadership team as Senior Vice President of Finance. This pivotal role will involve overseeing the firm's financial operations, including management company accounting, budget approvals, payables streamlining, and corporate FP&A. The ideal candidate will excel in financial strategy, demonstrate leadership abilities, and have a proven track record in corporate finance, ideally within an investment firm.
Key Responsibilities:
Accounting Oversight: Lead the accounting functions and maintenance of the firm's management companies and holding company.
Financial Closing: Manage the month-end and quarter-end closing process for corporate entities.
Budget Management: Formulate budget policies, review and approve departmental budget requests, and monitor budget performance.
Payables Process Improvement: Develop and implement strategies to streamline the payables process, ensuring timely and accurate invoice payments.
Corporate FP&A: Oversee forecasting, budgeting, variance analysis, and financial modeling for the corporate FP&A function.
Strategic Analysis: Provide insightful analysis on financial performance to support strategic decision-making.
Financial Reporting: Develop and maintain financial dashboards and reports.
Board Materials Preparation: Prepare comprehensive and insightful materials for board meetings.
Collaboration: Work with investment teams, asset management, operations, and fund finance to gather information for forecasts.
KPI Tracking: Develop and maintain a robust system for tracking KPIs, providing regular updates to firm management and the board.
Trend Analysis: Identify and analyze financial trends, risks, and opportunities.
Qualifications:
Detail-oriented with a strong entrepreneurial mindset.
Self-starter who enjoys tackling complex projects and supporting the firm's strategic initiatives.
Collaborative and humble approach.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance preferred.
Strong understanding of GAAP.
Resourceful problem solver with the ability to complete projects effectively.
Technical skills and experience in financial reporting and consolidation accounting are advantageous. CPA certification is ideal.
Advanced spreadsheet proficiency and expertise.
7-10 years (or more) of experience in asset management, public accounting, or professional services firms is highly preferred.
