Senior Designer, 3D Modeler

MISSION/ROLE:

As an integral member of the Product Creation team the Senior Designer, 3D Modeler / Creator is responsible for working with the product creation team to create and execute 3D representations of inline footwear/product designs utilizing digital tools. Using a background in solution based design and technical footwear expertise this role will execute innovative, stylish and functionally grounded designs and prototypes that will provide support throughout the product creation go to market process.

CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Work as directed by the Design Leadership team and product creation partners to create solution based, innovative, seasonal footwear concepts and final design prototypes
• Convert hand sketched and rendered ideas and sketches into physical 3D prototypes
• Create and process digital model
• Employ technical skills to provide aesthetic, functional and manufacturable design solutions
• Provide and communicate detailed digital assets with overseas product creation partners
• Drive standard best practices and controls for effective project creation and development
• Special projects as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design or related design/modeling/prototyping field
• 5+ years of experience in a Digital Design role preferred
• Footwear experience preferred
• Demonstrated proficiency using digital design software applications (i.e. Shoemaster, Rhino, CAD-CAM, Solidworks, Maya, Photoshop and Illustrator)
• Experience working in fast-paced production environment
• Possess an in depth understanding of market trends and new technologies
• Ability to continually expand knowledge of digital creation tools and processes and stay current with industry digital creation innovations
• Preferred to have traditional hands on footwear development/prototyping skills (patternmaking, mold making hard parts and sewing soft goods)
• Ability to travel domestically / internationally (Asia) as required
• A portfolio of work, with clear examples of personal skillset and digital capabilities required
