Senior Buyer

Lex Products has an exciting opportunity for a Buyer. The purpose of this position is to ensure that components are purchased ahead of production schedule at or better than cost targets. This position also assists the planner and production coordinators with planning and scheduling manufacturing order to support company's goals for on time customer delivery while maximizing inventory turns.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Key responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Reviews and processes purchase requisitions and purchase orders, purchase order adjustments, and invoice review; develops and assists with implementation of processes for efficiency improvements; provides customer service and departmental support.
  • Assists in preparation, analysis, of Requests for Proposals (RFP) with suppliers for efficient delivery of products and services; tracks and develops reports to identify progress of cost saving initiatives and process efficiencies for the organization.
  • Analyzes, identifies, and communicates information regarding purchase orders utilizing approved and non-approved vendors; identifies, researches, and resolves problems relating to purchasing issues.
  • Works closely with Accounts Payable department as it relates to purchases and invoicing.
  • Develops departmental communications; maintains and updates departmental files, and databases; contributes to and supports departmental initiatives.
  • Negotiate prices for spot buys and for contracts based on the quantities and dollar amounts.
  • Maintain low Inventory level with increasing inventory turns.
  • Owner of Purchasing requirements for finished good levels.
  • Own purchasing metrics to drive positive changes.
  • Buyer will be responsible for disposition of non conforming products from suppliers, sign offs on ECN’s, and awareness of alternate parts created by ECN.
  • Review, maintain and balance Inventory as per business needs.
  • Be able to run commodity histories and project forecasting and future requirements for specific events and yearly requirements.
  • Participate in physical inventory as required
  • All other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualification/Experience:

  • 4 Year degree in statistics or accounting is preferable
  • Five or more years in a similar purchasing role is required.
  • Proven experience coordinating a variety of complex activities involving associates at all levels in the organization.

  • Ability to follow through on tasks and projects
  • Self motivated, ability to work independently using standard procedures
  • Lean manufacturing experience a plus
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced production environment, as well sit at a desk for extended periods of time.
