Primary Purpose Of Organizational Unit
The Gillings School’s Department of Nutrition is a global leader in research and training. We are the only nutrition department in the United States situated in both a school of public health and a school of medicine. We engage in innovative work that capitalizes on both these schools’ approaches to health, and thus our department has an unusual breadth of scientific and policy approaches. Our faculty expertise spans from cell to society and moves from discovery to delivery. Our faculty and students work throughout North Carolina and reach populations in China, India, Malawi, Spain and the Philippines, to name a few.
Position Summary
The Nutrition Obesity Research Center ( NORC ) is seeking a Research Assistant to assist with dietary data collection. The Research Assistant will collect diet data over the phone per given research study protocols; the position does not involve any nutrition counseling or in-person interviews. All data is collected and tracked using local electronic databases and online tracking systems.
Minimum Education And Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, And Experience
Researchers are expected to possess general nutrition knowledge as well as basic food preparation knowledge. A very strong working command of basic computer skills is necessary.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, And Experience
Cooking experience (in the home or professional) is helpful but not required. Strong proficiency in programs other than Word or Excel helpful but not required.
