Job Description Summary

The George Washington University (GW) Department of Neurology is seeking a Research Assistant. The department is dedicated to providing outstanding cutting-edge diagnostics for clinical care, exceptional training and education to prepare the next generation of neurologists and scientists, and innovative research to advance medical knowledge. A full-time position is available immediately on a NIH -funded grant to investigate the pathology underlying the vestibular neural circuitry in an animal model for congenital vestibular disorders. Immunolabeling approaches and confocal imaging are used to study the vestibular inner ear and brainstem vestibular nuclei neurons in our chick model for congenital vestibular disorders.

The core responsibilities of this position include assisting with data collection and administration of experimental procedures, and assisting with administrative aspects of preparing manuscripts for publication. This position may perform some lab maintenance duties as a secondary function. This role typically works under immediate supervision, and the primary job functions do not require exercising independent judgment.

The position performs other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.

Minimum Qualifications

Qualified candidates will hold a BA/BS in a related discipline. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position.

Preferred Qualifications

Additional Required Licenses/Certifications/Posting Specific Minimum Qualifications:

Experience using imaging approaches at the journal publication level is a plus. Preference will be given to a well-organized and self-motivated applicant who has experience working in a biomedical research laboratory.

Hiring Range $20.01 - $26.39
