Job Overview

We are inviting applications for the position of Research Assistant (RA) in a biomedical laboratory in the Department of Oncology, Georgetown University Medical Center, Washington, D.C. The Person assuming the role will be able to contribute to exciting research on gene regulation and RNA Biology in cancer. In addition to the lab management task, the RA will participate in active research projects culminating in publications.

Primary duties include:

·      Perform the duties of a lab manager. Ensure that the lab activities comply with safety protocols and EHS safety guidelines.

·      NGS data analysis generated from various assays, including CRISPR-screen, single-cell RNA-seq data.

·      Participate in experiments such as cell culture and cell manipulations, including transfection, RNA and DNA extraction, western blotting, and sequencing library preparation (Experience in any of these techniques will be an advantage).

Requirements and Qualifications:

·      Bachelor’s or Master’s training in Biology, Chemistry, or related fields

·      Proficiency in R or Python. Experience in developing informatics pipelines and analyzing genomics data sets will be an asset.

·      Previous experience in molecular and cellular biology research is required.
