The Program Officer for Educational Opportunities primary purpose is to oversee the TFEC scholarship program. This position carries a caseload of scholarships.
Major Accountabilities:
Oversee all scholarship-related program processes including:
review, assess and prepares analyses and funding recommendations for scholarship applications.
serve as team support to the scholarship committees
inform scholarship grant recipients of their award
maintain all appropriate files
receive and process all tuition invoices and make payments
monitor GPA’s as necessary
Manage and implement all scholarship work served through management agreement services
Manage and implement all scholarship work for corporate scholarship funds
Assist with scholarship committee governance oversight
Engage scholarship fundholders to build relationships, share scholarship information and communicate relevant TFEC information
Promote all scholarships as appropriate, working closely with all school counselors, colleges/universities/trade schools and other entities as required
Monitor scholarship application process in SLM
Attend meetings and presentations for scholarship related issues, as required
Monitor the scholarship section of the website to ensure that it is up to date and kept current
Assist with the creation and implementation of TFEC’s multi-year strategic plan and annualized work plans
Assist with TFEC’s marketing and communications needs as follows:
Assist with articles and coordination of TFEC electronic newsletters, as needed
Assist with implementation of social media and other technologies as needed including email blast system and press releases
Assist in the implementation of the marketing and communications’ plan
Assist with the coordination of special events and special mailings, as requested
Assist with publications such as the annual report and others, as required
Support Finance team in account reconciliation by monitoring all student payments
Stay abreast of emerging trends in community foundations and other scholarship organizations about scholarship best practices
Work with student interns on special projects
Represent TFEC on community advisory committees as appropriate
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Minimum of bachelor’s degree in related field; Master’s Degree or equivalent experience preferred
Knowledge of nonprofit sector required
General knowledge of the community issues in the Central Pennsylvania area and the area TFEC serves generally about geography
Excellent time management skills
Excellent computer skills, experience with Access databases and Microsoft Office
Experience in working with people, boards and committees in the community
Ability to work in fast paced environment
Detail oriented
Public speaking and community liaison
Multi-tasking (manage multiple projects and deadlines)
Creativity and flexibility
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to analyze, think critically
