General Shale Brick, Inc., the nation’s leading brick and masonry materials manufacturer, is seeking a Procurement Officer at our corporate office in Johnson City, TN. Ideal candidates will have a proven track record of designing and preserving efficient procurement processes as well as a successful history of managing a high-performing procurement team and managing supplier relationships and negotiations.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Developing, implementing, and optimizing cradle-to-grave procurement strategies to optimize efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Identifying potential suppliers, negotiating contracts, and maintaining vendor relationships.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all purchasing-related inquiries and collaborate effectively with various departments.
  • Identify, develop, and manage strategic business relationships and gain a comprehensive understand of business requirements.
  • Analyzing market trends and monitoring supplier performance to ensure compliance with quality standards and delivery schedules.
  • Analyze and deliver strategic communication to supplies about performance and expectations while developing corrective active plans.
  • Use data, statistics, industry benchmarking, and business experiences to make recommendations that optimize the supply chain and strategy and negotiate supplier related contacts.
  • Collaborating with internal departments to understand their procurement needs and requirements.
  • Managing the procurement budget and providing regular reports on procurement activities.
  • Establishment and delivery or annual and longer-term savings targets.
  • Strong work ethic, self-starter

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • 10 years of experience as a Procurement Officer or in a similar role, with a strong understanding of procurement processes and best practices.
  • Sustained career growth with increases in roles and responsibilities.
  • Functional leadership, coaching, development, inclusion, performance management, and objective setting for all team members.
  • Strategic negotiation skills, with a focus on long term category management, supplier engagement, and partnership development.
  • Detailed knowledge, understanding, and experience implementing Strategic Procurement methodologies.
  • Effective communication and influencing skills with both external service providers and key internal stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Previous experience with SAP is preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
