Location

Our Kennesaw campus is located at 1000 Chastain Road NW, Kennesaw, GA 30144. Our Marietta campus is located at 1100 South Marietta Parkway, Marietta, GA 30060.

Department Information

Located in the Northwest of metro Atlanta, Michael J. Coles College of Business is fully accredited by AACSB-International, offers programs in online, hybrid, and face-to-face formats, and serves around 9,000 students. The Michael A. Leven School of Management, Entrepreneurship and Hospitality consists of three majors (Management, Entrepreneurship, and Hospitality Management), six minors, two centers, and 40 + faculty with diverse research and teaching interests.

The school supports several graduate programs including MBA, EMBA, and Ph.D. programs, which are nationally recognized. The school also houses Joel A. Katz Music & Entertainment Business Program, Robin and Doug Shore Entrepreneurship & Innovation Center, and Family Enterprise Center, which was recognized as the third most productive center for publishing research in family business journals. The entrepreneurship & innovation center is focused on the incubation of new businesses through student-led initiatives.

Job Summary

Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for a pool of open rank, part-time faculty positions in the Michael A. Leven School of Management, Entrepreneurship and Hospitality for the academic year 2024-2025. These positions are on an as needed, semester-by-semester basis. Rank is determined at the time of hiring and will be commensurate with experience. This position is for work to be performed in the state of Georgia.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate Course Instruction: Instruct graduate and/or undergraduate students in a specific field of study and/or expertise. Instruction may be required in face-to-face, hybrid, or online modalities.
  • Coordinate Content Development: Coordinate the development of course content and subject curriculum design with the designated course coordinator. This can include, but is not limited to developing and managing the course syllabus to ensure that it meets department and college standards relating to accreditation and AOL requirements.
  • Manage In-Class Interaction: Develop lectures, in-class discussions, exercises, and assignments that support and emphasize established learning objectives for the course(s) being taught.
  • Monitor Course Performance Data and Information: Monitor student learning outcomes, class reviews, and analyze student data to determine important trends.
  • Maintain Course Administrative Requirements: Grade assigned papers, quizzes, and exams in a timely manner. Assess grades for students based on participation, performance in class as well as scores on assignments and examinations, all based on established grading rubrics.
  • Learn and/or demonstrate user competency in resident Learning Management Systems (LMS) to include but not limited to: Brightspace D2L, Collaborate Ultra, MS Teams, Zoom, and Owl Express.
  • Engage in Student Advisory Activities: Advise students on how to be successful and achieve their academic and future professional goals.
  • Maintain Field and Instructional Competency: Stay updated on innovations and changes within their course field. Participate in and complete professional development activities as required by the school.

Teaching assignments will be based on earned degrees and SACSCOC Faculty Credentials Guidelines.

Required Qualifications

  • An earned Master's or Terminal/Doctorate degree, or the foreign equivalent, in Management or a related field is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Licenses, certifications, or professional memberships
  • Specific experiences or skills (e.g., prior teaching, familiarity with specific techniques)
  • Experience teaching on-line or hybrid courses
  • Record of past teaching at a particular level (e.g., graduate vs. undergraduate) or area (sub-discipline)
  • Post-doc experience
  • Relevant work experience
