Job Summary

The Operations Director is responsible for overseeing the entire production process within the food manufacturing facility, ensuring that operations are conducted efficiently, safely, and in compliance with all regulatory standards. This role requires a strategic leader with a strong background in food manufacturing, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to drive continuous improvement in all operational areas.


Key Responsibilities:

Leadership and Strategy:

  • Develop and implement operational strategies aligned with company goals and objectives.
  • Lead and mentor a diverse team of managers and staff, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with senior management to establish performance goals and allocate resources effectively.

Production Management:

  • Oversee daily operations of the production facility, ensuring efficient workflow and optimal productivity.
  • Implement and monitor production schedules to meet customer demands and delivery timelines.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety standards, HACCP, GMP, and other regulatory requirements.

Quality Assurance:

  • Maintain high standards of product quality and safety through rigorous quality control processes.
  • Implement corrective actions for any deviations from quality standards and continuously improve quality assurance procedures.
  • Work closely with the Quality Assurance department to address any quality issues and implement preventative measures.

Supply Chain and Inventory Management:

  • Manage supply chain operations to ensure timely procurement of raw materials and ingredients.
  • Optimize inventory levels to minimize waste and reduce costs without compromising production schedules.
  • Establish strong relationships with suppliers and negotiate favorable terms.

Financial Management:

  • Develop and manage the operations budget, monitoring expenses to ensure cost-effectiveness.
  • Analyze financial reports to identify areas for cost reduction and operational efficiency.
  • Provide regular reports to the CEO and senior management on operational performance and financial metrics.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and lead initiatives to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Implement lean manufacturing principles and other best practices to streamline production processes.
  • Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement among the operations team.

Health and Safety:

  • Ensure a safe working environment by enforcing health and safety regulations.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments, addressing any potential hazards promptly.
  • Promote a culture of safety awareness and training among all staff.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field; MBA or equivalent advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in food manufacturing operations, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
  • In-depth knowledge of food safety standards, HACCP, GMP, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing production processes, improving operational efficiency, and leading large teams.
  • Strong financial acumen with experience in budgeting, cost control, and financial analysis.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to think strategically and make data-driven decisions.
  • Proficiency in using ERP systems and other relevant software applications.
