Network Security Engineer

BCT is actively seeking an Associate Network Security Engineer for a contract to hire opportunity looking to gain knowledge in Operational Control Systems with one of our utilities clients in Dallas, TX.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

• Executes activities regarding installation, configuration, testing, maintenance and problem resolution of network hardware and related software in the network architecture and supporting the enterprise network infrastructure
• Activities may include research, deployment, integration & configuration of network & network access and remote solutions ensuring compliance with IT operating policies and procedures.
• Performs network architecture research, planning & analyses resulting in creation of enterprise network-related documents (policies, standards, baselines, guidelines, procedures and configuration information).
• Creates & runs reports based on historical data related to access, usage & availability of enterprise network connectivity & network access points, ensuring compliance with IT policies & procedures.
• Develops technical documentation to provide IT staff and management with configuration and deployment details for maintaining effective network operations and access, backup/recovery processes and Disaster recovery methods and processes.

KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:

• Backup/recovery processes and disaster recovery methods and processes.
• Knowledge of common network and application protocols
• Advanced knowledge of network routing and switching
• 2-10 years of experience working with virtual environments
• Go-getter, independent problem solver, with the ability to work with limited supervision
• Skilled at technical documentation (e.g., flow diagrams, spreadsheets, etc.)
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal

TECHNICAL SKILLSETS/NICE TO HAVES:

• Cisco Routing/Switching
• Juniper Routing / Firewalls
• Palo Alto Firewalls
• Operational Technology/ Industrial Control Systems / SCADA experience
• WAN communications technologies
• Experience with cybersecurity
• Experience with system architecture
• Private Key Infrastructure
• General IT systems administration
