Job Description And Duties

**THIS POSITION IS PENDING APPROVAL**

Under the general direction of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and with the clinical guidance of the Regional Mental Health team, the Mental Health Executive (MHE) is one of the highest ranking clinical mental health leaders within a California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) adult institution. The MHE has comprehensive 24/7 accountability for the operations and delivery of mental health patient care services throughout the individual CDCR adult institution. The MHE is a policy advisor for programs within the Mental Health Services Delivery System (MHSDS) and is responsible for the day-to-day policy formation, interpretation and implementation at the CDCR adult institutions alongside the Chief Psychiatrists. The incumbent has regular supervision and substantial contact with incarcerated persons to maintain order and institutional compliance in conjunction with the protection and safeguarding of the public and property.

This position is Limited-Term for 24 months and not 12 months as stated below, with a possibility of becoming permanent, in which the incumbent would serve a one-year probationary period.

Please note: The position will either be filled at as a Psychologist or as a Psychiatrist. The two salary ranges for this position:

Salary Range for Psychologists $18,738 - $23,795

Salary Range for Psychiatrists $34,055 - $41,226

Special Requirements

Possession of a valid license as a Psychologist issued by the California Board of Psychology and possession of an earned Doctorate Degree in Psychology from an education institution meeting the criteria of Section 2914 of the Medical Board of California's Business and Professions Code or Possession of the legal requirements for the practice of medicine in California as determined by the Medical Board of California or the California Board of Osteopathic Examiners. Possession of a valid certificate in phychiatry issued by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology or the American Osteopathic Board of Neurology and Psychiatry.

Possession of Minimum Qualifications (MQ) will be verified prior to interview and/or appointment. Candidates new to CCHCS are required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan Fingerprinting, and Tuberculosis (TB) testing prior to appointment followed by department annual TB testing/evaluation thereafter.
