Lead Piping Designer

Experienced Drafting and Designs Lead with supervision experience over company staff and contract positions with emphasis around mechanical design. Familiar with various other design disciplines, such as civil, structural, machinery, electrical, and instrumentation. Supports and manages checking of outside design efforts as well as maintaining internal design standards. Works with Document Control staff to ensure revision control is maintained on internal and external design efforts.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the drafting team to produce accurate and timely technical drawings, plans, and schematics.
• Ensure all drafting work complies with industry standards, company policies, and safety regulations.
• Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and other stakeholders to gather necessary information and requirements for drafting projects.
• Review and approve drawings for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with specifications.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to drafting team members.
• Implement and maintain drafting standards and best practices.
• Coordinate with the procurement and construction teams to ensure seamless project execution.
• Utilize CAD software and other drafting tools to create detailed drawings and models.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation of all drafting work.
• Participate in project planning and scheduling meetings.
  
  

Requirements

• The candidate must have 5 years of drafting and design experience in a refinery, power plant, or other industrial facility.
• The candidate must be able to work safely in an operating refinery environment.
  
  

Preferred Skills

• The ideal candidate will need to have excellent communication and leadership skills, both written and verbally.
• The candidate will need to have strong technical and analytical skills.
• 10+ years of drafting and design experience with progressively increasing responsibility and influence to the facility.
• 5+ years of supervisory experience leading teams of 2 to 6 direct reports.
• A demonstrated proficiency in AutoCad, 2D modeling, 3D modeling, 3D LiDAR scanning, documentation management, and revision control practices.
• Strong acumen around standardizing, developing, and producing refinery drawings such as PFDs, P&IDs, One-Line Diagrams, Loop Diagrams, Piping Isometrics, and Machinery Diagrams.
• Experience navigating the management of change (MOC) process.
