Laboratory Assistant

Kelly Science & Clinical is currently seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individuals for the position of Laboratory Assistant with a flavor production company in Los Angeles, CA (Near California State University, Los Angeles). This role offers an exciting opportunity for someone with a background in Food Technology or equivalent education/experience. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in our laboratory team, collaborating with experienced R&D Chemists to prepare and improve products, conduct quality control analyses, and ensure the timely fulfillment of customer sample requests. Pay Rate:
$21-$24/hr DOE
Shift:
First shift: 7:30am - 4:00pm
Duration:
Temp-to-hire (~ 6 month temp period)
Responsibilities:
Prepare stock samples for customers and facilitate their evaluation by a Chemist or above for quality
Assist Chemists in daily work assignments
Perform simple modifications for the improvement of existing products using existing and/or new raw materials
Report to the Laboratory Manager, while also receiving instructions from Chemists or above
Maintain internal contacts with Quality Control, Production, and intercompany lab personnel regarding resources, production, and Q.C. procedures
Foster a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in ways that enhance relationships with vendors, customers, co-workers, and supervisors, while achieving and enhancing performance standards
Compound new and/or existing products, including Juice Concentrates and Flavors, based on defined customer or in-house requirements with specific instructions for each project
Record and document all completed work
Perform all Q.C. analysis and tests required on new and/or modified products developed
Prepare stock samples to fulfill customer sample requests
Maintain sufficient lab sample inventory to meet customer requests
Conduct shelf life studies and stability testing of products
Assist in the Q.C. Department in the absence of Q.C. personnel
Coordinate and pack samples for shipment to customers in collaboration with the shipping department to ensure the proper handling of products
Maintain an organized and clean working area
Perform other duties and special projects as required
Qualifications:
B.S. in Food Technology or equivalent education/experience
Experience: 0-3 years
Familiarity with a lab environment and the metric system
Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally
